California - Northern

Ok last thing! We will have at least 5 Pita Pinta cockerels and 2-3 Basque cockerels for sale soon. They are 4 weeks now. Let me know if any of you are interested!

Also - Pita Pinta hatching eggs are officially for sale now too! I have a list going so please let me know if you are interested.

Hope everyone had a good Monday!

hi Megan, please put me on your Pita list, even though i'm reliant on broodies only, not incubators -- just in case our timing coincides!

I'm sure I'll miss a breed or two but you'll find feathered legs on sultans, silkies, d'uccles, favrolles, brahmas, & cochins.

Thank you - that was the other one... I have a Light Brahma Bantam. Neither feather footed chick picture looks anything like the d'Uccles, or the Silkies. Never seen a Faverolle bantam in those colors - and I think they are rare. The Brahma Bantams and the Cochin Bantams I have seen from hatcheries - and the black one looks like a Cochin to me. I do not have a clue what the coloring on the brown one is.. its why I never put a guess in on that one.

The breeds are fairly easy to tell apart between comb type and toes, colors and patterns are something else entirely. I forgot langshans.

I am hatching by Hen--Each basket had eggs form one hen and then the chicks each get a different color band based on the Hen that was the mother.

I am hatching like this for Capayvalleychick. Kim is learning a lot already.

I'm doing single matings, so I will know the sire & hen that produced each chick. That way, I can better identify what each bird is producing - good and bad traits.

Thanks so much to Ron for doing all the extra work to make this possible for me!

So - how many total???

The bottom one is marked like a Sicilian Buttercup but they are not common. I would ask the feed store you got them from what breeds of bantams they ordered and what Hatchery they came from. Then you can look at that hatchery's list of bantam breeds. Going to www.feathersite.com and looking at the pictures of those breeds and what the chicks look like might also help you figure it out.

The other chicks all look like Cochins to me . .

I think they get their chicks from Belt and Ideal hatchery. The one those 3 came from was a mixed lot of bantam chicks. I'll look up which breeds they carry. Is a Buttercup a bantam? Thanks guys!:)

No, no, no.............I always have roos and I already know where you live, LOL

Haha, true!

My single col Cochin was going slumpy after two days alone so I grabbed some welsummer, marans, orp, ee,buff brahma while on a costco run.Now the bossy thing is running the brooder!
My husband is like " are you aware of how many chickens we have?"

I didn't mention I still need cl and od to fulfill my quest!!!

I will let my girls grow out a bit but my rooster will probably be od, cl or wellie. How many coops can you demand built in one season? Muahahha, we wil see.
