Most of yesterday's hatch, (so far) - 34 golden campine, 2 OE (BCM x araucana), 1 lakenvelder & 3 serama. A few chicks are still drying in the incubator, a few eggs are still pipped (they were due today).

Why do I keep singing - "one of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong"?

My goodness, that is a chick pile! Extremely cute!

Because "Three of these things are not like the others" isn't the way the song goes..

Can't remember if someone was interested, but there is a new Azure Standard drop point starting on the K-3 route in Cottonwood.

And Azure Standard is carrying the Scratch & Peck GROWER now!
That is great news!

Azure also has Big Sky Non Soy Organic feed--50#s for $30.80. I like the Kamut organic scratch too....

Great, so I took off the day old leg bands (like braces rubber bands) and set them down for one second, well the chicks ate them. Do you think they'll be ok? There were 3 little bands

I just want to pick up the whole pile and hug them!

Wow very cute babies. Do you have that many in a bin all the time or just for the pic? I put mine all in together and was worried about them trampling each other. Seems they like to cuddle though :)

I literally had just taken them out of the incubator. When the hatch is complete (about ten more chicks or so), I'll probably split them into two bins. I try to keep them around 25 in a bin. I only keep them in bins in the house the first week, then they get moved to brooders/pens in the workshop/shed.

Azure is one of the brands our hay supplier has. Are you doing the drop to save money or because no one in your area has it?

The Broody games have begun at High 'N Dry Farm! One of last years broodies has stuck after three false starts. I don't know how many are under her but when I gave her some Marans eggs and some Polish eggs, it was pretty noisy under her when she tucked them in and adjusted them. Really, is there anything sweeter then watching a hen tuck eggs under her? But I really need to count eggs because she did a lot of spreading to accomidate the extra eggs so I'm suspecting she's letting the others lay in her box. I found two of them in there a couple of days ago.

I have chicks hatching this weekend and with the broody I think I'll finally turn off the incubator for the first time since I got it in February! Most of these chicks are sold so I've filled all my current orders. I'll miss the hum of the humidity pump!

Holy hatches guys! haha I see pic after pic trying to catch up!! Congrats! I'm all done for now.

I hatched 16 ducklings - 1 Pekin, 4 pure Appleyards and I am clueless on the rest but they are adorable lol.
I hatched 7 Cream Legbars - 3 boys/2 girls - my Broody, Betty, adopted them. She hatched 2 Rhodebar boys which are re-homed when she weans. (I mean I found them homes)
My little Sizzle broody hatched 2 Speckled Sussex.

My 2 baby geese are doing well. My Buff Dewlap African is stinking HUGE at 5 weeks. Already about as large as my hatchery Africans that are adults lol. My hatched loner African is sweet as can be and a lot smaller. They are very bonded.

I am having a hard time finding an organic replacement for Flockraiser OR a corn free replacement for it. Anyone have any suggestions? Our local feed stores carry squat for people like me that are trying to move that route. I am not anti corn- but I prefer organic corn if I am going to have it in my feed.

My duck eggs are selling like hotcakes now. Took like 6 months! And this is AFTER I re-homed several of my hens because I was getting 16 eggs a day and I couldn't handle that many. Now I am going to run out this week since I am down to 8-10 a day. Kicking self.

I might hatch again in July- some more ducks. Not sure.

I'm all over the place sorry. I feel rushed- I have a few minutes to post then have to go do some yard and housework lol.

My new Crele Pendensenca's. So now I have 2 OE's, 2 Empordanesas, and 4 Crele Penedesenca - the last 2 were late to hatch.

I'm thinking 2 girls and 2 boys? I have one that is really dark, and that is reddish brown, and two golden brown.

So cute- congrats!!

Has anyone heard from Molly? She posted that she was going in for another scan, and I haven't seen her back. Fingers crossed she's okay.
I've been wondering too. <3

Hi, about your dog's kidney failure. I have a 16.5 year old Basenji with kidney failure. I've been keeping her going, happily, for over two years now on two medicines that I get from Amazon. She's 20 lbs. She takes Azodyl , 2 am and 1 pm, emptied out of the caplets that they come in and put in her food. Azodyl has to be refrigerated. She also takes Epakitin powder, 2/3 scoop am and pm in her food. She's been doing great on these.
She started throwing up her dog food so the vet wanted to calm her tummy and protect the lining from losing too much protein or something like that. So, the vet just added Aluminum Hydroxide Gel 320mg/5ml last week. She get 5ml squirted into her grumpy little mouth before each of her meals. It smells minty and I know she hates it. She also takes one 5mg tablet of Enalapril at night wrapped in a Greenies Pill Pocket. She will also start taking Pepcid OTC 1/2 of a 10 mg tablet 2x a day to protect her stomach and intestines from irritation caused by kidney disease.
She's doing amazing, people are shocked when I tell her age, She acts about 5 years old and begs like mad. We call her "the pushy old broad" ;-)
Ask your vet about this stuff. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
