OK food update:
I think I need to put it in later the cream didn't churn. When it got hot enough to steam I decided I had garlic cream and made a potato dish instead.

Next time I'll try once the first clotting has already occoured.

Next question for you revise everything cooks.

I'm making a rice dish that is cooking rice and beans at 350 for about 1/2 hr. Could I cook it at 275 for longer instead? (That is what the oven is at) if so how much longer? If its dicy I should not do it mario loves rice so I don't want to screw it up.

So I finally have a rooster that I might be able to keep.

Melvin is 17 weeks now, and he only makes a weird, sheep like ("baaaaa") when crowing. He was injured at 1 week old, and had a huge cut on the back of his neck. I'm thinking that might have effected his ability to stretch out his neck to crow. He's trying to "get with" all the girls now, so if he was going to do a full on crow, I would think he'd be doing it by now. Am I getting my hopes up too soon?

Lizanne, at 17 weeks, Melvin may be really clumsy but I bet he's already gettin' it on with whoever can't get away.

I think Melvin is a handsome boy. My BLRW started out sounding like a sheep/goose cross, his crow is now they loudest of the 5. It just seems to carry more than the other boys. I hope he is a quiet, mellow roo for you.

I've had several Roos that sound pathetic until 20+ weeks. The kids would say " barnabus is croaking again!"

Maybe you will be lucky and it will stay ...

he's lovely! it's funny, i'm already starting to try to decide which of my roo chicks i might end up keeping: there are two araucanas, one with black breasted red color and the other gold duckwing; also a birchen marans (most likely a boy, still too early to tell for certain); and harold the CL. and there's adult Max, my SFH roo, who is very gentlemanly but i have no other SFHs. hmm. when one has such an assorted flock (and probably won't be breeding any breed in particular, although never say never), how does one choose?

i suppose a lot will depend on their personalities as they get older -- and how well the keeping-two-separate-flocks-in-pans-but-still-free-ranging works out?

I always go with manners! I have a flock watcher with each coop but they could be called upon to do 4-H duty so they have to be nice. Besides I need to work in the runs/coops and I like not having to watch what the boys are up to.

During the fair I spend at least 12 hours a day listening to young boys "Practicing". Strange thing is that I can usually identify our boys in the chorus.
