Lizanne, at 17 weeks, Melvin may be really clumsy but I bet he's already gettin' it on with whoever can't get away.

I've had several Roos that sound pathetic until 20+ weeks. The kids would say " barnabus is croaking again!"

Maybe you will be lucky and it will stay ...
I think Melvin is a handsome boy. My BLRW started out sounding like a sheep/goose cross, his crow is now they loudest of the 5. It just seems to carry more than the other boys. I hope he is a quiet, mellow roo for you.

I'm hoping it will stay weird and quiet. He's mailing going after the poor Cornish-X girls, because they are the slowest. He doesn't even get close to the older laying hens. Will that change, or will he always be scared of them?

OK food update:
I think I need to put it in later the cream didn't churn. When it got hot enough to steam I decided I had garlic cream and made a potato dish instead.

Next time I'll try once the first clotting has already occoured.

Next question for you revise everything cooks.

I'm making a rice dish that is cooking rice and beans at 350 for about 1/2 hr. Could I cook it at 275 for longer instead? (That is what the oven is at) if so how much longer? If its dicy I should not do it mario loves rice so I don't want to screw it up.

I was going to say I have made flavored butter in the vitamix... I thought I put the herbs in with the cream, and it worked ok. Maybe it is because the garlic had too much moisture? Then I would think adding it after you mostly have butter should work, just to blend it in.

I don't have enough experience with rice and beans to give you advice on the temp/time thing, but I imagine it could work, as long as you have enough liquid.

Yes, you should be able to cook things like rice and beans at a lower temperature. Baked things need the heat to activate the soda or baking powder so they can't go below 300.

I would think it will take something like 1.5 hours but I would check it at 1 hour to be safe.

I'd probably double it, 275 is the temp I use to braise things, pretty low. But that is really a blind guess. I always cook my rice in the microwave.............

He is a handsome boy!

I have lost the link posted recently to the Facebook page/group . Does anyone remember the name? For stock exchange, barter....

I do know of someone that got a SLP as the mystery chick. She grew a severe cross beak, Beth would have preferred a boy I'm sure.
