Yes, San Diego is definitely So Cal! It's also a huge County, and a city. Do you live in the County or the City??
I have lived in San Diego County, in the cities of Santee, Lakeside, and El Cajon. I had my son at the hospital in El Cajon 26 years ago, but almost had him at Grossmont hospital! I've worked in La Mesa, and numerous cities across the area such as Escondido and Palomar..My brother was stationed at Balboa, and we used to go the San Diego Zoo almost once a month when we lived there.....

San Diego is truly beautiful, and right by Mexico, great place to shop!! Yep, you've got alot going for you too!

Then again, having lived in both places, I wouldnt trade places with you for the world?? I'm transplanted to the North now, and I'm here to stay!! But I understand your pride, it really is lovely there...

I was born and raised in San Diego... but am now north of San Francisco in Sonoma County.
Having grown up in SoCal and driven between the bay area and San Diego dozens of times, I have to say: the line between north and south is where ever burritos stop being wrapped in wax paper and start being wrapped in tin foil.
SoCal = wax paper.
NorCal = tinfoil.

SF = tinfoil = NorCal. End of story.

Would love to meet other chicken fanciers in the north bay...

Excellent observation! I also note that NorCal tends to think Ground Beef is real meat, and there is less of that is SoCal? What do you think? (I'm a meat eater)

Yes, and they have "Flying Saucers" at some places instead of "tostadas" that have peppers cooked into the meat....and it's standard fare to have real hot sauce, with heat to it, not this tomatoe paste stuff you get up here...oh, any how, there is a difference in the mexican food for sure! Makes my mouth water thinkin' about it! At least the Taco Trucks around here sorta have it goin on! They know what Asada and Carnitas is!

My best friend moved to Nebraska and she missed the carne asada burritos so much that everytime I fly to see her I bring 4 burritos in my backpack and my 98 lb best friend eats them all in a day. Yes, they come in wax paper....

Wife and I lived in Hayward for 3 years and move away about 5 years ago (we're not in Contra Costa Cty now). We lived off D Street and people had chickens right next door and someone else had roosters and turkeys. Pretty amazing for such a suburban area. Not sure if they were legal though because that was before we had chickens.
