you crack me up, Ron! really, the sensible thing for me to do would be to divide the 11 campine eggs Deb sent me between the two broodies... i just haven't decided yet whether i'm remotely sensible or not!

evidence of my lack of sense so far: realized i've gotten to the point to where i can no longer list all my chicklets' names in my BYC signature.

Campines look like amazing chickens.

I need to change my breeds to too many to list! I need to get the egg farmer to send me some pictures of the chicks I hatched for him this year.

Lol I hear you need to keep at least 5 of each breed to get a good sampling of the breed. You would be in huge trouble

I'm so delighted with the two campines i have so far -- they are small and so graceful, and remarkably well-tempered -- they are the oldest birds in that pen (probably about 4 months old, maybe more, while the others are 6-11 weeks), and are unquestionably top of the pecking order, but they don't feel the need to harass the younger ones, and indeed have made friends first with chicks that i've integrated in (first two SFH from Deann, then the four isbars from Molly). i'm so excited about hatching more!

am somewhat tempted by dorkings... or trying more birchen marans... or perhaps something else... or even hatching a few of my own mutt eggs (Max the SFH + a variety of girls) just to see what they look like, only what would i do with all the extra chicks? might have to learn to process chickens, after all...

decisions, decisions -- but i don't have to decide today, as i'll be out in West Marin all day, taking photographs for a new project & then attending a pig roast. hurrah!

well I have a few crele I can spare since I have some outside ones coming in from a penedesenca trade I made awhile back. Not sure if you want to make a road trip though

thanks Jason, i am somewhat tempted! except i probably can't take the time for another road trip this coming week...

I'm loving it. I was able to open my windows last night for the first time in over a week. They are still open to the lovely coolness. It's only 64 degrees out right now. Of course, we have a guy coming at 9 to look at our A/C. It worked fine, but we have a blockage in the condensation drain line, which caused a water leak. The carpet was wet and shall we just say a dog got blamed...............

No harm to the dog, in my house if you aren't caught "in the act", it's just one more thing for me to clean up, LOL

Brinsea goodies should be here when I get home . Good stuff!

On the weather... We left the windows open and the house is cold. Had to put on a robe! Heat must have passed. One warm week in Tahoe a year. Yay!

Now, I've met you. No way are you old enough to be throwing a shower for a grandbaby, unless it's someone else's!

Thank you!!!! I'm so excited!!! 1/2 came from a shipped batch of mixes-- Tuxedo, golden, a&m, pharaoh, tibetan, and brown-- that's what the listing said... This is one of them! I have no idea which, but it's a HEN!!! HA! I just know it!! There are 110 eggs, 109 now... waiting for popcorn!!!
