Thank you again for the Orp chicks.  I was going to post a picture, but I've had a couple of issues today.  The skunk and this morning the laptop wouldn't power up (I haven't even finished paying for the darn thing).  Anyway, I'm trying to post on my tiny vacation netbook at the moment.

Very frustrating.

My foster dog just got ahold of Charlotte. After I dragged him into the house I went to check on my chicken and although nothings broken she does have a big cut on her leg and doesn't like when I touch that leg. Should I spray Blue Kote on the cut?

The best bet is to first spray with Vetricyn if you have it. Then I'd coat it with BluKote and keep a close eye on her. Make sure she doesn't get shocky. I'd keep her quiet for the rest of the day and then return her to the flock.

I don't have Vetricyn...should I just use the blue kote? She's been laying down a lot. Should I separate her from all the others for the rest of the day? They put themselves to bed in about 30 mins. Where would I put her?

Yes spray with BluKote, it has a disinfectant. Put her in a dog crate overnight indoors, you foster, right? Give her water with electrolytes or Pedialyte or even just a teaspoon of sugar in a quart of water. Then offer her a scrambled egg.

Yes, I foster. 23 dogs fostered so far... I'll take my crate from the car and put it in my room, on top of old towels so she doesn't get poop on the floor.. What should I put in there with her? Can I use the waterer that they used as baby chicks, or will that be too small for her to drink out of?

Yes, just laying down is shock. Get her something to perk her back up and tell her she is still alive. Do one of the above suggestions - she needs something to recover from that trauma. She can drink out of the chick waterer - or you can put a cup with some water and makes sure she drinks a lot - then put it in the chick waterer for later. If you have a dog dish you can hang on the inside of the crate with the water that would work too.

Okay. I'll give it to her in a dish then in the chick waterer later. Somebody said to use sugar water? I just ran out of the electrolyte mix a couple days ago, so I can't do that. What's the water/sugar ratio? I'm also about to make her a scrambled egg

As soon as people are paying for something they think you are a cruise director to entertain them. I have very politely not sold chickens to people who I was pretty sure would not be able o care for then at all. I feel like the world of Warcraft old saying " you are not prepared!!"

Quail are words . People want to let them go in the yard... I don't really want them to die in 2 days.
B collie yes on blue Kote and they should e able to drink out of the waste dish unless you had a quail warterer.

I have had this guy here before. I sold him about five chicks last year. I came home from work about four month ago and there was a couple just strolling around my ranch like it was a park. I was shocked! I asked if I could help them ..The guy said, " I bought chicks from you a while ago and wanted to show my girl friend Where I got them.... REALLY! I was not Happy... This is my house. You MUST call for a appointment...
I think he just came by today for a field trip for his daughter. She was to busy on her phone.. RUDE! I have better things to do.

Yup.. I think so too. Do you have any of those dishes that hook to the sides of the crate? That's what I was suggesting to use - my chickens always knock over the bowls too. I finally used the flat bottom heavy dog bowls for them.

The water/sugar ration was given by Deb, a teaspoon sugar to a quart of water. Although it looks like she is not quite in shock.. standing in her water!

Nope, I don't have one of those. So I just went and got the waterer I used when they were little babies. Hopefully she won't knock it over! I think she came out of shock pretty quickly. She has finally calmed down and is just laying down right now, but about 10 minutes ago she was clearly telling me how much she hates me. She kept trying to fly out of the crate(obviously to no avail, as it's just a wire box!) and every time she failed she would stand there and make very angry sounds... The chicks are just now starting to make both peeping AND clucking sounds. So she sounded pretty funny. She ate almost the entire egg, I hand-fed it to her through the bars of the crate.

Well she sounds better. You might make her happier by throwing a sheet over to make it dark - she probably would like to go to sleep.. Did she drink any of the water before she stood in it?

You might want to wire the waterer to the sides of the crate.. just in case she throws another temper tantrum.

My second set of hens, Buffy, is clearly not feeling well. She was very lethargic and did the water throwing up on me when I picked her up to inspect her. Her toenails were overgrown so she has been not active for a while and I didn't notice. Gave her some nutri and put her somewhere she can sleep in. I'm going to be away for 3 days on site and I'm worried she might pass when I'm gone. She's just over 2 and from ideal I think. She did get all her shots.

I did an inspection and no egg by I do not know for sure if she is laying.

You did the research--Shots do not make much of a difference.

Hopefully she will perk up. The HRIR I returned to the flock on Friday night is acting like her old Narcoleptic self again. She was in recovery for three weeks. I almost culled her but my Middle DD said to giver her more time. I guess she was right!
