they are way under their mom & i think still damp, so i'll wait to bother her with a camera until things have settled down -- didn't see any started under the other broody yet, but hoepfully it's just a matter of time!

I would love to see pictures of your chickens! I think you need to get to 20 posts for that so post pictures when you can. I need bees...I had a great bloom on my plum tree but almost no plums and this was a good year with no frost days during the critical setting time.

Amen to that.  Years ago, I was a single mom with a small house and a single attached garage.  Had a doggie door from the garage to the side yard for our golden retriever.  Heard a noise in the garage one evening after the kids and dog were tucked in beds.  Opened the door to find the house painter I'd recently had paint the exterior rummaging around the garage.  On look and I knew he was high.  He startled and mumbled something about didn't want to bother me so late, that he'd left a paintbrush in my garage.  He DOVE thru the doggie door and disappeared in a flash.  I had the presence of mind to slip the metal plate to block the doggie door from further access.  No more doggie nor cat doors for me.  Too many unwanted visitors possible. 

I remember coming home at 7am from a night shift to find someone had been in our house while my husband and children were sleeping! My husbands pants were in the bathroom, the door to the garage ajar and our car open along with the glove box. The police couldn't find prints. Still dont know how they got in the house. Someone had hit other houses on the street. Had 2 Rottweilers after that. No more problems. No dogs now. Just this month someone came onto our property, cut our hoses trying to get gas. I would have another dog but we like the deer on our property.

Going out to collect the eggs is always the high point of my day. It brings back memories of collecting eggs growing up.

Congrats and way to go Pullets!

The eggs are produced in cycles in the hen\pullet. The first cycle is often smaller in number and size of egg. Often they will lay two or three eggs and then take a break of a day or so. The next cycle will have bigger eggs and will often have more eggs. It takes a couple of months for them to get into a good rhythm and the eggs will change again after the first molt, often getting bigger or even changing shape.

One of my BAs started laying torpedo shaped eggs after her last molt. Very cute eggs, but they do not fit in an egg carton very well.
