Woo hoo! Got my first egg yesterday... laid on the poop board. Got a second egg today... laid on the poop board. They look like they weren't laid by the same hen, so any suggestions as to why they are laying on the poop board instead of the the very nice nest boxes seeded with fake eggs?

Do you have fake eggs in the nest box? Golf balls work great for training the Pullets.

Well since it's their first eggs they might not recognize the signals yet so they just lay them whenever.

Thanks guys! I guess I just thought it was weird because both were laid in the same spot on the poop board. The nest boxes each have a plastic Easter egg filled with rocks to make them heavy.

oh, great, the skunk is living in the main coop, hiding under the floor level shelf just below the roll-out nest unit on the wall.

I went in for the night check and found it eating eggs. It froze, I froze, it slowly slithered under that board while I admired its sleek, shiny fur.

I made sure the smallest chicks were tucked safely under their moms on the roost perches before I backed out of the coop.

Craptastic, as another BYCer would say.

Nasty critters. I almost got skunked twice over a couple of weeks ago. We called the skunk guy to trap them...have trapped 9 in the past 11 days. Glad to see them gone. Hope you are able to dispose of it quickly before it eats more eggs.
