That does look weird! I am on site for the rest of the week. Poor mario has to poke spray and pill all my sick survivors on his own. Liva drusas tail does not look great it has some black spots but I hope it is to be expected. The ducks are good enough they got to go outside in a pen. They are still scars however and were trying to hide under my hair when I took them outside. But no 1 is too fiesty for the sick room.

Just collected eggs and oh my I have never seen anything like this...it's hard shell and stuck down. Like the start of another egg...eew lol weird!!

There is a name for that--basically it is a shedding from the reproductive organs and happens after a molt.

The egg should be fine.

That is usually caused by an egg hanging up long enough in the reproductive track (hen may have had trouble pushing it through), a little calcium starts to build up inside the lining of the reproductive track and then is pushed out along with the egg.

Lucy the CL seems much the same after three (i think it's been three?) days of isolation, living on her own in the garage. she's definitely eating (chick starter, whole-milk yogurt, mealworms) and drinking (water with save-a-chick vitamins), but still painfully thin, and her once-proud comb has completely drooped over her beak now -- she's not statue-standing, but definitely subdued/low energy -- and i ordered the ivermectin wormer only to have it arrive & discover that i got the wrong kind (injectable, not pour-on).

shoot. wish there was something more i could do for her at this point.

As a followup, The wormer that starts with a V(Valbazen?) is good to use for the second dose 10 days later.

Also it is so nice to be here! I am getting frustrated on a certain Black colored, black boned thread. I think I need to stay away from it for a while. They do not seem to learn--it was closed for review a week or so ago and the nastiness is back.

I bet worming helps. Is she laying? If you think she might be internally laying some people have used la 200 ( this is off memory) to fight egg peritosis. But I never have.

thanks for the link, Ron -- i was hunting high and low for a dosage using this stuff and couldn't find it. will try it in the morning, if i can figure out how to pry the "injectable" plastic lid thingy off the bottle! and fingers crossed that this IS her problem, because if it isn't, i've not no idea what else to do for her.

I use a little syringe, grab the wattles and squirt 1/4cc into the mouth. It is very easy. Ten days later the ivermectin goes into the water.

If you worm them all you will probably get more eggs.

ok, i will try. i don't usually like to give medication unless i know it's needed, and i'd just chalked up the lack of laying to molting (which they are most definitely doing) -- but perhaps i should be less cautious. thanks very much for the help!
