I'm pretty sure the 3 babies are blue orpingtons. The father is for sure a splash orpington... There's a chance the mom is a black sexlink

Another SPW baby hatched:

...They are super cute chicks Alli, since all of the chicks in my last broody hatch were cockerels I am thinking that the powers that be will reward my continued faith by giving me nothing but pullets this go round....that's how it works right??

It is possible to have more pullets this time. Some of the old timers think that more Cockerels hatch in the Spring and more pullets hatch in the Fall.

I think the mom is a black orp tho

Well that would stand to reason. A black bred to a splash will produce 100% blue chicks.

Congratulations! I love blue chickens.

Tommy - this may have sounded snarkier than intended..... it wasn't meant that way. I am a little extra paranoid since my mouth always gets me in trouble.....

I like this news^^^^

Had the super huge pleasure of driving to Star Rose Ranch visiting with CapayValleyChick, AKA Kim, and seeing her wonderful set up. I have a crush on her St Croix Juvie Ram. He's like a big ol dog.

Two new SGD pullets are in the feedshed/quarantine space and at this moment I feel like my flock is complete. This will be true especially if I have a couple of girly birds in there under Beakface but even if my luck holds and they are all cockerels, I just feel happy and contented with what I have. err that is until I can hatch a NH girl or two next broody season...I really hope that I am done with broodies till next spring

Either Norma, my by mix or Sweet T my Speckled Sussex laid her first egg today a cute little thing with calcium spots on it. Both hatched the 4th week in April so are right on 6 mos but my money is on Norma since I wasn't expect Miss T to lay for weeks and Norma is smaller, like an Icelandic.

ETA BTW Kim did a search and silkies, houdans, sultans and favorolles all have 5 toe too
