California - Northern

The listings for Contra Costa are both for Concord Feed. My daughter recently tried to get King Feed from the main Concord Feed store in Pleasant Hill. They told her that they were only carrying it in their San Ramon store but if she ordered it, they could have it brought in from that store. She needed the feed right away so my DH bought her a bag at Scott's Valley feed. Always call ahead before going. I happened to be in Lodi a few months ago and stopped at the Robinson's Feed to get some King Feed thus saving DH a stop at Scott's Valley on his way home. They didn't have everything that I wanted and the young girl at the counter was super rude. I was going to wait for the guy to come out from the back but noticed that there were flying bugs all around the bags of feed. In addition, there was bloody poo in their chick brooders and chicks that were obviously not feeling well.

We put the other items that we were going to purchase on the counter and walked out.
Yikes,

I know that he has a good reputation but he sure has lots of breeds. Do you know if he breeds all of them to SOP? I can't imagine the work involved.
He has a Partner, Turnland is the last name. My guess(and from some posts by places like the La Fleche thread) is that they are better than Hatchery stock. They may not be as good as some Breeder stock though. I would like to see pictures but have been told we do not need to see them.

It would take a lot of work to keep all of those breeds.

The @herneco.com email is directly to King Feed or a distributor?
Those are the King Feed Company contacts.

Tom released the Dorkings from prison yesterday p.m....they put themselves to bed and when I left this morning were still happily scratching round the run instead of the back yard. Success!!!!! They are fitting in.
Glad to hear that they are doing well for you!

I would have a heart to heart with your feed store manager. Tell them the # of bags you can commit to every month which will help them plan their orders better.
I did that, with the Davis Western Feed, early last year. It didn't make any difference.

Quote: I was ordering Directly, but I found it easier to go through AG unlimited in Lakeport. They drive by there once a week and can pick up an order. I got a discount for a bulk order. I buy about 2-3 months worth of feed at a time. They deliver free in lake county. I used to go in with other people on an order and buy directly. pallet flat rate was $102. So the more people order the cheaper freight gets. I also have my oen mill. I got non GMO Organic wheat and corn for our own flour and meal. You just have to pick through it some and maybe wash it. but the price was worth it to me. 1 lb grain = 1 lb flour and at $23 for 50 lbs. vs $6 for a 5lb bag of organic flour heck yeah I do it! Though I like costco's organic white too their price was pretty good :p

You can do both :) Cheaper from modesto itself. Everyone that works there seems to be really nice too.

CackleJoy... What's the difference between Modesto Milling and Hatch Milling in Turlock? Does Hatch Milling carry the same feed you are all talking about? I'm in Turlock, so that would be a win/win for me;)
