I was thinking about the plugged drainage just a bit ago. Hopefully the street sweepers will get going before the next big storm.
No Street Sweepers here. But I have a kid I pay to come mow in summer and clean up the leaves in the fall. He will be earning his pay next week!

You are lucky your yard is nice and tidy. After all that wind the sewer drains are now clogged with all the leaves that have been blown loose. Funny how that works. Big windy storm knocks everything down, plugs it up and then we get a bunch of rain and it causes flooding because everything is all backed up with leaves. At least it seems that way to me.

well, no sewers up here on the mountain -- the drainage ditches get filled with gravel and etc at times, but the leaves just blow away. the joys of quite-rural living!

and a former student of mine just offered to bring his chain saw up to start disassembling the downed tree -- hurrah!!

Huh! I'm in sacramento and we haven't seen any rain since Wednesday ... We did get a lot though. There's not much wind either...huh!

Alum Rock!  We used to go to Alum Rock Park when I was a kid.  Is it still there....with the big hill?  We would roll down that thing as fast as we could and make ourselves dizzy.

The gully down the bottom of our house connects to the park! We call it the wild animal highway. The park is quite wild now and connects with the state forest I think. I don't know of anywhere you could roll anymore.

The Wind was bad on the Coast and in the Sierras. It was not too bad in Woodland, but a bunch of leaves did fall. Hopefully the rain will hold off until they can get the leaves out of the Storm drains.

We do have those in Woodland.

Actually...I was thinking of the wrong park. It was Willow Glen Park.

This is the wall on one side and "The Hill" rolls down from the front of this picture.

That looks more like it! There is one like that downtown too that has one hill and a billion roses donated from all over the world. They have little plaque s that say where they are from and when they were invented.

It has been 26 years since I have been to this park. Brought back a lot of memories looking for that picture!
