I think it's beautiful! :) can your hubby build my next coop lol ;)
Haha we're building them as we go. I need one more in the spring/summer on the right side of the yard. The red house was our first house, we laugh about it now. It's terrible haha. Our layers live in there

That is not a heat hardy list! Be ready to take special care of your fat and sassy girls (orps marans etc) when it gets over about 103. Not that you can't do that it is just heartbreaking to loose em to heatstroke. I hated to hear what was on my friends fb pages or here during the heat wave this summer. Right now australia is hitting 40 c in a lot of places and friends are loosing whole flocks its heartbreaking.
I kept up till actual hatching . Once I was 10 posts behind I gave up lol.
Turn the whole incubator! Get a brick or piece of wood or something 5 or more inches tall and move it from one side to the other 3x a day. This works as long as the air cell is upright and does not effect the humidity and temp like opening and hand turning does.
Those (minus a 2 or 3) are all the breeds I had before the dog accident. We have a mister set up in the coop, and even with the heat this past summer, I didn't loose a single bird. I freeze 2 liter soda bottles filled with water and put those in their coop, and its partially shaded. I also have one of my older coops set up in my garage, which ironically has a/c-- I'll put them in there if for some reason I won't be home during the hottest parts of the day, which isn't very often as I'm a home body and don't like to leave my house unless I have to.Where at in AUS are you? My dear friend lives in Beerwah.

I am in Novato. Are you going to the Stockton Show? We can meet there. I'll PM you.
Yes! My mother-in-law and I are going to be there! I've never been to a show before and this one is so close, we are VERY excited. Im hoping to meet some people from the area and learn a few things. We have both had chickens for about a year, so we are no pros by any means ALWAYS love meeting new people and picking their brain.

They are my kids! LOL. This last year I actually sent my husband to a wedding with our daughter and I stayed home to tend to the flock, it was an out door wedding, and 110 degrees. I wasn't too bummed I missed it! I set up the little plastic kiddy pools they sell at walmart for like 8 bucks with some cool water in it and the chickens had a field day, Even my old Roo Mr.Ace was in there playing, and he was such a tough guy mr hot shot! It was so cute. I miss my old bunch.
