California - Northern

Yes! My mother-in-law and I are going to be there! I've never been to a show before and this one is so close, we are VERY excited. Im hoping to meet some people from the area and learn a few things. We have both had chickens for about a year, so we are no pros by any means ALWAYS love meeting new people and picking their brain.

This is the best Cali show to go to. there should be about 3000 birds there. they are also having the qualifying meet for the Ko Shamo bantams at this show. They are worth a look if you like bantam birds. They are still a pretty rare bird here in the States.

Thank you, thank you!
Right now I only have 4 hens, we had a sad stray dog incident not too long ago. I have a red bantam cochin, araucana, gold sex link, and a black australorp! Hopefully I'll be adding more soon! We are taking advantage of not having a big bunch right now to move and expand our coop, and get a fodder system started. We live on 10 acres that they free range on all day. Though, I think that my be the cause of my lack of eggs. The naughty girls aren't laying where they should.
Trying to catch up with your post about birds you are looking for... I have 5 NYD hatch Mille Fluer Leghorns that need a home. They are advertised on CL for Modesto. My broody house is full right now and I want to empty it out and do some revamping before filling it back up. So these extra chicks are in my house and need to go bye-bye!

Your experience with chickens hiding eggs...

I found 50 in 3 days' time last week. 50 eggs in random bushes

Crazy birds. They have beautiful nesting boxes too! Those they were roosting on. So we had to revamp the access. Also put flower pots in all the egg stash areas. Problem solved. FOR NOW. I've got some sneaky ones that keep looking suspicious and diving under the little palm trees like there is something there.

Saw you suffered a loss recently.

Heartbreaking! I've been (recently) in that sick at heart stage from a loss. The people here were compassionate and somehow that helped :)

Oh good. Glad you are going. Its an awesome show. I am always impressed by the size of the Brahmas, and who knew peking ducks were the size of geese.

An acquaintance of ours who's had a body shop for a couple of decades touched up the paint on our new-to-us car for free. D'ya think this was good payment?

I was surprised at the range of browns and sizes--my main criteria for packing the carton was that the eggs needed to be clean.
