Yes, they are busy inside. Day 7
AWWWEE!!! My heart melts! How sweet! Life forming!!! I can't wait! I'm so excited!! I can get addicted to this... Only problem will be letting go of them! I'll feel like everyone of them are my babies! I'm sure once they get to the teenage stage and I'm over run by chickens I'll be willing to part with some happily! Thanks for that video! My heart started beating fast with excitement watching it! :)

My New years Day Babies are two weeks old! they Grow so fast! They are Amelias(Crele Penedesenca X Cream Legbar) crossed back to Crele Penedesenca.
Sometimes they even get forgotten and hatch on people without them even knowing it too.:hide That is exciting!
They like to hatch at 1 am and up if you forget about them and keep the incubator in the bedroom. That's a lot of comb thwre ron! What happened to your pullet raito?

I have posted that video before but the thread moves so fast!

That is a SG Dorking egg from @capayvalleychick s flock. The chick that hatched may be one that @tommysgirl picked up from her last Fall.

It is amazing to see them dancing like that and then hatched, grown up and being productive somewhere. I know I cannot keep all of the chicks I hatch but I do like seeing them go to good homes.

Welcome to Hatching!

They are Penedesenca type combs. Three of them are pink and boys. One is questionable but three are girls for sure. I think I will have 4 pullets and 3 chicken dinners.

As an example, this is Brand and his girls at about 4 weeks old:

They are all pullets in there except for Brand.

Has anyone retrofitted a foam incubator with a bigger viewing window? I have a Farm Innovators one with egg turner, but the windows are pretty small. I would love to replace it with a full plexiglass one that covers the entire top. Any suggestions?
@Audio51
I purchased the IncuKit from Incubator Warehouse and retrofitted my old Hova-bator. I’m only on my first set of eggs using it. The thermostat is digital and proportional which means it does not turn on and off, but up and down. So the heater is always on. A fan is also included.
http://incubatorwarehouse.com/48-watt-incukit-dc.html
To attach the plexiglas to the styrofoam, I tested several glues but ended up using window Caulk. They sent a templet for the hole the unit fits into and I used packing foam between the plexiglas and the IncuKit.
My room temperature stays in the 60 degree range and while testing, found it working hard to maintain a constant 99.5 degrees. (The thermostat can be calibrated if desired.) I don’t believe the heater is lacking but rather so much heat was being lost from the large Plexiglas panel. I now keep a towel covering the incubator and the temperature fluctuates between 99.4 to 99.6 with it generally being at 99.5 when I lift the towel. Once the unit stabilized and was covered, the proportional thermostat now runs at around 12% of captivity. (Also a digital readout.) As soon as I lift the Incubator lid, the unit kicks into high.
I have read some poor reviews concerning the IncuKit but so far I am very pleased and have found Incubator Warehouse customer service very helpful.

I found this image online. The black spots on its waddle and comb is what my bird have too. It doesn't look like fowl pox photos that I've looked up... What does it look like?

I am getting my mottled javas!!!!!!!!!!!

I will probably find out when later today but my breeder is in OR and she has friends who will be visiting her from SF and she is going to bribe them into bringing me 2 pullets! on their return trip. Hopefully it will be some time other than this weekend or next weekend since I will be OOT for both and though my daughter will be willing to do the meet up for me it would be better if I could do it myself.

I am a little sorry to be missing the chick stage but it will all be fine I am sure.

What I love about this thread is every time I see something new, (mottled javas) I google it and learn something new.

Good luck with your birds.

Looks more like he injured his comb, or someone picked at his waddles and the scrapes have scabbed over... just a guess. But it doesn't look like pox, IMO.
