Probably from the fence or like Jeremy said. They love to poke at each other

I purchased the IncuKit from Incubator Warehouse and retrofitted my old Hova-bator. I’m only on my first set of eggs using it. The thermostat is digital and proportional which means it does not turn on and off, but up and down. So the heater is always on. A fan is also included.

To attach the plexiglas to the styrofoam, I tested several glues but ended up using window Caulk. They sent a templet for the hole the unit fits into and I used packing foam between the plexiglas and the IncuKit.
My room temperature stays in the 60 degree range and while testing, found it working hard to maintain a constant 99.5 degrees. (The thermostat can be calibrated if desired.) I don’t believe the heater is lacking but rather so much heat was being lost from the large Plexiglas panel. I now keep a towel covering the incubator and the temperature fluctuates between 99.4 to 99.6 with it generally being at 99.5 when I lift the towel. Once the unit stabilized and was covered, the proportional thermostat now runs at around 12% of captivity. (Also a digital readout.) As soon as I lift the Incubator lid, the unit kicks into high.
I have read some poor reviews concerning the IncuKit but so far I am very pleased and have found Incubator Warehouse customer service very helpful.

OK geneticists, My uncle has a white silkie roo who has two MF D'Uccle girls with him. one of them just started laying and if I were to give some of those eggs to a broody on a test hatch, what would those chicks look like? More importantly would we cal them D'ukies????
Black skin and 5 toes are often (but not always) dominant. All other silkie charactistics are recessive. Except for the broodieness. I think you should call all the roosters John wayne.
Plexiglas is a better insulator than glass but two layers might do the trick since were talking about such a large area. I will consider that for my next build as I believe that is my problem. Let me know how it goes. This looks great, but what I intended was to just trasfer my existing heating element, fan, etc to the new window. I'm thinking maybe two layers with a space in between to insulate better and fairly thick plexiglass

Crossed together?hahahaha
So what about color and the second generation?
