Niclandia posted on the Hybrid Legbar thread that there are un documented brown Genes so my guess is a no for getetic testing. Blue egg shell is very easy to test for.
Yes, I read that and understand there are 15 different brown genes, but thought maybe Chiquita new of a lab that was able to test for the absence of any brown gene.

Perhaps even blue eggs carry brown genetic material and if this is the case I realize it would be impossible to test, but if some blue eggs are absent of brown all together that would be worth knowing.

From what I know about this from chickenmamma, brown is complicated and is a fair few genes involved. No testing that I know of for that. Just sex and blue gene and some thing I didn't care about so far. I'm still trying to convince her to get the test for double blue genes, thats what I really care about, but no dice so far.

Orlando is an all blue rooster! but he has a floppy comb. I am subrscribed to a fb cream legbar english ( mostly) thread and I'm SHOCKED how little color their boys have. The whole thing got me depressed about breeding CL to standard, I don't see how these boys will get that light. But the CL club seems confident, so power to the breeders!
I saw a post about too much cream. They were hoping the newest import would have correct coloring.

Do you order the test from chickenmama?

It would be great if they could test for brown!

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback. I guess I will be doing some test hatching.

No, chickenmamma didnt do the tests, shes just the person I know of who tried to figure out the genetics of brown genes and decide it was too crazy.
I have been trying to figure out my grow out pens this week. Somehow I have what looks to be a silver partridge and a white silkie. By straight genetics these cant happen in my pens, I'm now thourally confused!

I was attacked by a flock of MAD CHICKENS this morning!!!! Of course it could be because I went into their run with a big sheet pan full of Hot oatmeal laced with scrambled eggs, sour cream, yoghurt and Blueberries. I was lucky to get outta there with my life...hahaha! They ate that stuff like they were starving!!! Took pictures of the attack chickens! Oh and the surrounding landscape...now u can see why they needed some hot food!!!

Hang in there!

It gets colder by Thursday for you?

Just for my clarity; this would be great so that one could test day old chicks for the brown gene rather than wait to see what color they lay?
