Ya I might bring one of those as well. Hope I can find em! I have someone Bringing partridge showgirl eggs but the rest I'm just gonna hit the floor and see what I can see. I'm hoping for some white silkies and a jubilee cock. We will see. Mario gave me the skunk eye when I said chickens.
I'm just going to follow you around to snap up any extras!

I love hatching surprise chickens! I'm having so much fun watching the chickens that I hatched from the eggs I got from you. The CL and CL mixes are like a little gang in my backyard and they lay such beautiful blue eggs. For once, the majority of the eggs that I'm getting right now are blue!

I like the heat emitters because I can feel the heat and check. Both the bring I got broke and killed chicks when the light was still on.

The trick is to not leave them in the pen all the time. Mine make visits because I live in town.

;)  Yes, perfect gentlemen....:lau

Thank you Ron. You're always a wealth of information!

I use those. It will depend on how cold your house is and what size the brooder. But they work for me.

sounds wonderful! Yes my husband is coming along too. I'm not quite sure if he's getting interested in the hobby, or making sure I don't bring anything home ;)

Yes!

I am interested in getting the big one. Mary the Sheriff said she is going to try them since her Brinseas keep blowing power supplies. I had one fail a couple of weeks ago too.
The Brinsea measures 12 x 8 and the small Premier 1 measures 12 x 12 but both are supposed to be for up to 20 chicks. Do you think that the small Premier one would actually work for more than 20 chicks? I don't usually hatch more than 20 at a time but we do plan to hatch a number of Bresse this year instead of ordering Cornish X for meat. I like that you can buy a cover for the Premier ones.

The small Brinsea will work for 20 LF chicks for a week or so.

Luckily that may chicks makes their own heat so even if they do not all fit under the heater they will keep the others warm.

You will have a better chance of keeping 20 warm with the bigger heater. Did you see the covers? I do not like the poop on the top of the heating plate....

I like the idea of the covers. I would make a cover for the top of the Brinsea one if I decided to go with that one.

What broke and killed chicks???
When the power brick failed, it still powered the led light that said there was power but the plate was cold!

My Middle DD told me that something was wrong since the chicks were acting odd. I checked water and food and made sure the eco glow light was on. After several hours, I reached in and touched the plate and realized it was not working.

Luckily I am not using my second eco glow so I was able to power up the one for the babies.

They would have died if I was not paying attention!
