I have a broody Cream Legbar. Are they a broody breed? It's funny, when I go to check for eggs her crest sticks straight up because and she growls at me lol.

The brinseas. If you get one of those cut rubber shelving pieces for the top and just change when they are poop and wash.

I was think an old rag laid across the top would work.
