4 weeks and still not pure?  Wow.  Congrats on the babies.

There is a breeding discussion on facebook im arguing 3 weeks is a minimum not a really sure point. People are like oh 1 week is fine and bringing up the speam stacking. I keep bringing up my oliver egger disaster

the nice thing with crele is it will be simple to tell as they will be brown or lighter. If the rooster is black they will be darker black or blackish brown with a head spot.
I wanted to wait another few weeks but could not help myself.
I am sure the ones going in the room will be.

I also heard from the Egg Farmer--The pen I have set up with 4 UofA Blues, two Crele Penedesenca pullets and a UofA Blue cockerel are laying very well and I will be setting a bunch of eggs from that pen next Wednesday.
@Laurieks mentioned to me that she wanted some Blues.

There are showers here but it's cold and wet enough outside for me to dread the chicken chores.

@alibra I am so sorry about your hatch! I hope you get some chicks from someone on here soon :)

No chicks....
So sorry.....

Be careful about discussing this. A lot of breeders have been using a two week rule for a lot of years and do not want to think about the idea that they may have had mixed up breeding.

The problem with the theory that the new pushes out the old is that there is no pressure involved in chicken mating. It is not like other animals. The Rooster has no appendage. It is a splash and take kind of thing LOL.

Make sure that the breeder you get hatching eggs has not waited only a week LOL. Something to watch out for since, to me, it is deceitful to sell them knowing there may not have been enough time to make sure the old Rooster has cleared.

I like to wait a month generally. I just had cabin fever lol and figured id sell the chicks locally if need be, with the crele its easy to tell if they are crele or mixed with black

It's fine Jason! I was considering incubating a couple of the Wheaten By Partridge Penedesenca eggs and make sure people knew it was a cross.

You know what you are doing!
