California - Northern

Anyone know a source for blue black or splash Ameraucana somewhere in Northern California?

ETA I know @Audio51 has those mottled babies and if she happens to have any girls...no matter the color left over well I would be beside myself to take them off her hands
I have 5 and all seem to be mottled. Don't know sexes yet of course, but I will only keep one or maybe 2 pullets and the rest will need homes no matter what sex they are. I would love them to go to someone here, so if you want them they are yours!

Were are you located?

no need for that, i've already written about 2 pages this morning -- but a girl's got to eat her breakfast at some point, right?  and it's always nice to have company with breakfast.

That was the most gently worded spank and toung stuck out back I have ever seen. Such sweet people!

LOL!!!!  That is one of the reasons I use SCATT....It's just one drop for the finches.  No calculations involved!    My math was always bad but soooooo much worse now!

The m stuff in scatt is advantage right?

Is  the Frontline you guys are using here different than the one they use for dogs and cats?   I am only familar with that one and it was for killing fleas and ticks.

It is the one without heartworm meds that is for dogs.

Speaking of dogs. . Frontlines not working on my pooch. Anyone know if I can give him ivermectin? He is scrathching and I ment to try advantage but have not gotten any yet.

Quote: Yes....I egg-topsied today. Of the 9 unhatched eggs, 2 were completely yolk so either infertile or very early death. One was Marans and one was OE. The Marans may have had a tiny embryo.

The other 3 Marans had 2 about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way along. The 4th one was fully formed with only a little yolk unabsorbed.

The 2nd OE was fully formed.

All 3 of the remaining Mottled AM were fully formed, 2 were smaller eggs and the 3rd one was the one I thought might be cracked and I sealed it with nail polish top coat right after I got them. All 3 of them looked mottled.

With so many fully or nearly full formed chicks I am wondering if the humidity issue I had was a big factor in them not making it to hatch. I am thinking I might try to get back on Luvinblue's egg list for some more of those.

Are you wanting egg-topsy pictures or live chick pictures???

I'd like to see pictures of the eggs and the chicks.

Holy cow!! At a week old. I heard them last night, and My hubby and I started looking around, like "what in the heck is that". It took us a while to figure it out.

That reminds me of the first time I heard a quail crow. I couldn't figure out what that strange noise I was hearing from the front porch was......LOL

Ya'll member that bator chock full o eggs? (My son was watching duck dynasty, it rubs off).

The one that I bleach steamed? OOPS.

And then only removed 3 of the original 63 during the first candle?

Found one more blank and 6 quitters.

Yes, that makes me happy.

We are now down to a 52 viable eggs in a 41 egg incubator

Lock down is in 2 days. We shall see what happens. We've had to use the book method and who knows how effective that is. Also don't know if the bleached caused lasting damage.

This will be interesting and exciting!

I shall just choke if we end up with 50 chicks.

That will teach me to do a fertility test expecting poor results!

Wow that is great! Can't wait to hear how they do!

I have 2 week old chicks, 28 eggs in the Hovabator due to hatch 3/9, and a full tray of eggs in my GQF cabinet hatcher that are a week behind. With all the talk about chicks, I set another tray full in the cabinet last night. They should be mostly Pita Pintas. Zoro is doing such a good job fertilizing eggs that I have a hard time not setting them. My family may start thinking about committing me!

I so know how that feel. I told myself I was going to be concentrating on hatching eggs this year......But......I have to test hatch don't I..? And......I do need a little new blood to continue on right???? I have a Hovabator full of eggs from the breeding pens & another Hovabator full of OEs & overflow from the AM pen & BCM. All eggs in there will be delightful colors that I can share if any of them hatch. I need a fertility booster.

It depends on the breed. Collies and a couple of others have problems with ivermectin.

We had a cat that would foam from the mouth if we gave him frontline. I got him a pill that killed all fleas in about 10 minutes of giving him the pill. I do not remember what it was though.
