Quote: Wow...they are doing great!!
Quote: Very cute... I'm jealous, all you guys and gals have fancy purebred chickens and chicks, all I ever have are mutts!

I love that!Don;t let the lure of "Building it cheaper" fool you, My husband talked me into a 10' x12' shed that would be way cheaper then buying one pre-built for about about $2500. It ended up costing us about $5000-$6000. It has steepled roof with a weathervane, fish scale siding on top, oak floors, an interior loft, a ceiling fan, custom made concrete countertops and sink, built-in cabinets...oh and a rock foundation, sliding barn-type door in addition to the main door and a ramp. Here is a picture of it in the snow before the chicken pen/coop were added in the space to the left.

And lamb from hair sheep breeds tastes totally different from wool sheep lamb. Hair sheep are only raised for meat, so the meat quality has always been a priority in selection - hence better tasting lamb from hair sheep. The extra lanolin in wool breeds also affects the flavor, making it have that unique taste of lamb that makes so many people not like lamb. Hair sheep lamb almost tastes like mild beef. Even if you have never liked lamb, it's worth it to try locally produced lamb from hair sheep - just to taste the difference. It's the only lamb that I like.We are just getting into Lamb. Like many Americans, Lamb was ruined by Mutton during the second World War.
Lamb is so good!
Baytril was banned for use in poultry. It causes antibiotic resistance in humans who eat eggs or meat from treated chickens.

Ron, I didn't tell you that it's best if it's a little rare. My son overcooked his and didn't like it. I like using lemon, lemon pepper, garlic & wine.
I was hoping that you would enjoy it.
Wow! That's great. Sounds like will be having a significant positive impact on chicken keeping in your area!I got an Email from the Citrus Heights City planner. It said:
I just wanted to let you know that on April 10th we will be asking the City Council if they would like staff to review the way we currently regulate chicken keeping vs the popular trend of backyard chickens. It takes time for regulations and ordinances to be changed but this will be the first step in moving the process forward.
I'm super excited!! At the council meeting they told me they had no issue with looking at changing the city code, so hopefully this will all go through.![]()
