These aren't my first chicks in my cabinet but I've been using it to incubate for the first 14 days or so and then putting the eggs in my Genesis Hovabator for the last week. I have to manually turn the eggs in my cabinet and the humidity in there is at around 50%. Maybe lack of turning and too high humidity. Of course almost all of the Pita Pinta and PP/CL mix eggs hatch with no problem. Bresse eggs also hatch easily. That's making me wonder if the conditions need to be different for the Langshans. I'm going to add to what my breeders are being fed and also experiment with lowering the humidity for the first 18 days and maybe upping it for hatch. I will figure this out!

Might as well weigh you langshan eggs while you are at it.

This stuff does not even phase him anymore, he is used to my crazy ideas. I think the reason we are married is we agree with crazy things a lot. A shocking amount work! Once in a while he does just look at me however .

This mornings conversation went like this
Honey I need you to draw something for me!

Well I need someone in a chicken suit in cuckoo with a soft bat.
Erm...
And then someone else in a p@@@@ costume but with a silkie puff on top. And its gotta be a family friendly p $$$$.

And then I need a banner on top that says favored breed fight!
????
And then I need fans on the side carrying different breeds of chickens with banners waving them around!!
????????
Can you have your picture guy make that the picture of the day? It would be cool to have 300 of those!!

Needless to say I did not get the drawing this morning!

I have a severe problem with the genesis 1588. This is hatch #3 and a new problem. The temp is just spiking like crazy!
Started last night. Looked ok.

This am = 104!!! So I turned it off, opened it and let it sit.

Got home from taking kids to school.

Eggs are down to 99 so I turned it back on.

In one hour it is up to 108!

I just turned it off again and opened the lid.

What do I do? Should I just smash all the eggs and start over? This one had 20 of the MFL eggs and I really wanted them to hatch as there are people wanting to buy them!

I'm plugging it in, opening the lid, unplugging it. It's so unstable. It's like the heater stays on even when the light says it is off. Technical help anyone?

I like the soft bat. Is that so that I can club people over the head with CG information? I can see why Mario would have had trouble what does a "family friendly" p@@@@@ pic look like anyway???


She just told me that. Did you name her Asparagus? Somehow that name has your ring to it Will she be mad at me when I tell her we are going to pass? I hope not

Thanks, I've missed all of you enablers and chicken pushers! We've just spent so much time working that I never got online here.

I promised the hubby I wouldn't add any more breeds to MY coops, for now... But then I wised up and bought HIM some birds (Faverolles) - at his request. So I'm figuring anytime I MUST have something, I'll just gift the birds to him
