California - Northern

What a morning. My D was in Las Vegas for the WCC basketball tourney. She lives in NJ now but had to fly back with her group to Oakland @8:00 then take BART to SFO to catch a 12:10 flight back east. Her flight from LV was delayed so she was still on the train until 10 min before her flight to Newark took off. I have never missed a flight so I didn't know what to expect or tell her and I was somewhat freaking out. However. she...little miss world traveler... had it all handled and is now ready to board the flight she did make. No extra cash outlay or anything. I am so relieved. How did my kid get to be so old and responsible?

Yep, happens all the time!

We still worry about them though.

I finally got around to calibrating my hygrometer/thermometer using the salt water method. It was running about 18% low. It should have been at 75% and was only showing 57%. It will be 1 year on the 20th since I bought it from Incubator Warehouse so just barely within the warranty. I emailed them yesterday and got a reply that the probe might have gotten wet and to check to be sure there was no moisture in it. The only way it could have gotten wet would have been from humidity in the incubator. I opened the probe and it was dry as I suspected it would be. There is a tiny bulb in there next to a tiny circuit-type board. Not sure white is temp and which is humidity. They were nearly touching and I moved them apart slightly. I rechecked it and the humidity was better, but still not right, but now the temp is a little low. I checked it with a regular bulb thermometer and in the Brinsea. I emailed them back that it was not wet and that it was still giving incorrect readings, so they said they will send me a replacement and I already got a tracking number. Hope it gets here soon. I just moved 8 eggs from the Brinsea to the Farm Innovator for Lockdown. I will use the bulb thermometer readings for temp and keep the difference in mind on the humidity. These are mostly Marans eggs with one EE egg, but the Marans are pretty light colored ( I mentioned the light color to the person who I am hatching for and that they really don't look much darker than your average brown egg layer. I won't be convinced they are really Marans until I see the chicks). Wish me luck with these!!!

Cuz you raised her right!.. Mine is buying her first home right now.

why do they charge too much? I won't do it and risk my Lemons. But I dunno if someone want the laying hens for the eggs. Like 2 or 3 or more. Its an opportunity. I haven't relly looked into it much.
It was an FYI. It is up to you to decide what to do for sure.

We can't post about that topic but if you want to chat about you can sen a PM.

That is really nice! I have to ask for my egg packages to be marked for pick-up, and always have to call to see if they arrived. One time they told me they hadn't come and later that day they showed up on my door step!   Funny thing is, those eggs were from Georgia and I got a 100% hatch! They were packaged very well (BYC member Bargain) and were EEs.

Don't forget to post what colors Aubrey sent . . Please :D
No broken or cracked eggs, they were packed on their sides and most of the air cells are a little giggly, no snow globes in the bunch but 1 was upside down.

2 L CU. Lav Cuckoo.

was this the brinsea running low? I calibrated (well, unless I really didn't cause I'm not sure on half the stuff i'm doing. I don't quite trust myself lol) . And the brinsea and Accurite, while they were IDENTICAL, showed to be running 5% low. According my my salt water test.

Some tests say to wait 12 hours, some 24. From 12 to 24 it did keep climbing 2%. So instead of 7, it says 5%.

My Genesis is i think 10-12% lower than what it actually says.

I didn't have a bad hatch last time. Some were clear because i kept my rooster out too long to give my girls a break. So far, this time, all show development except 1 or 2 out of 40 eggs (I think that's what I got in there ) . So who knows. Maybe i did right before and this is just another version of right. Once i get it down, i'll be confident in this whole thing

Quote: I don't need to talk about it. I was just letting Nor Cal chick owners know there were some available in Vaccavile. Personally I though chickens like that went to meat factories for dog food or something. But I am not in the business so I dunno.

Lost our duckling today. :(

Ok who remembers the saturday night live sketch of the Californians?

Im imagining this done with california gray chickens now.

One has a bleached wig and sunglasses....
