I just got an email from Linda Hamid:

A lady contacted me today with an urgent request. Her friend's son was in a mototcycle accident and no one knew he had chickens. By the time someone got up there some of the birds had died. There are still 5-6 chickens and on guinea. The birds are in Alta which is about 10 miles above Colfax on I-80. 
 
They are looking for a temporary home for the chickens (he'd like to take them back when he recovers, if possible) and a permanrent home for the guinea (the others died so this one needs to go to a flock).  Even if someone can go up there and just feed and water the birds, that would be greatly appreciated. If it is a female guinea and we could get it to novato I could take it, but it would be a pair rather then a posses. Would have to voice sex it. I'm afraid 2 boys would beat the crap out of my roosters.

Ok friends ! I have convinced my husband to go organic on the layers this spring! Yay now the deal is that i find the best deal whether it be a mill or feed store to purchase in bulk for the year.

The carson city store isn't interested in special orders if poultry feed. I'm still working on them.

I don't mind corn as long as it's Gmo free . Would like to limit or nix soy though.

Any location tips would be really appreciated!
I just can't swing it for 38$ for a 40 lb bag. Maybe I'm too cheep?

Glad you are feeling better, but it was probably a good idea not to push it by going out to soon. You will complete you recovery faster if you don't over do it too soon...

I currently have some breeding cull welsummer pullets available. They should still lay nice eggs.

Since I don't want to breed either barnies or wellies, I'd love culled pullets! Where are you located?

Thank you! I have to say I agree. The lady I hatched them for came to pick them up this evening. She asked me if I wanted her to pay and me anything. I told her if it was that if it would not be a singleton I would ask to keep the blue egg hatchling. She said she would bring it back when it is a little older for me if I want it. I told her I would wait to see if it is a pullet or not. I miss the new babies already.

Yes, Cornish Crosses are ready in 6 to 8 weeks.

They are big poo machines! and eat a lot of feed. They still eat less than a Dual Purpose that you process at 20 weeks.
