She said they are golden buff and gave me a link to this picture

Edited to add: She is asking $10 each for the buff and also has blacks, but they are not ready yet. They will be $20 each when they are ready. She said they are from show stock
YES!!!!!! I will take both buffs. I am in Lake county. I can meet her on the 5 some were if she want's to. Red bluff is lik 4 hours but worth it since they are hard to find.

They are definitely pretty girls! There is a show in Red Bluff on the 29th. She is not showing, but said she might. I'm not sure if I will feel up to going, but if I do I might be able to work out a pick up there. I will be in Sac on 4/10 for an appointment at 11:30 and might be able to get them that far.

Let me see what she is willing to do.

Okay :)

Well, people are lazy. They want to get paid, but often don't want to work hard… Frustrating for sure.

Nisene Marks is gorgeous but I hate that they don't allow dogs on their trails. My husband and I usually take the dog up to De Laveaga and walk the trail from the softball park up to the disc gold course. Its beautiful!

Are you out in the country now or living in town? How many chickens do you have? This is my first year raising chickens. I have two 2-week old Barred Rocks, a 5 day old Ameraucana, and a 5 day old Gold Laced Wyandotte. I'm so excited, I've wanted chickens for years! Now that we finally have our own house and a large backyard we figured we should go for it. I hope the neighbors don't complain…

Wow, We lived in Watsonville, off Green Valley, for 30 years! We raised our 3 children but have moved to Sacrament, Pollock Pines, and now down 49 to San Andreas. So nice to read about the wonderful area we left behind. Wonderful hugs to you!

So I have a question for all of you guys that have raised meat birds. Are they butchered before the time that the males start crowing?

OK......I PM'd her to see if she could meet me in Chico. If she can, you could maybe meet me on the 10th at I-5 and Hwy 20?

I try to butcher under 18 months but best near a year for size. They crow before a year of age. But my meatbirds are dual purpose so they grow slow. Broilers are basically babies at butchering.

Any reason you can think of for me to NOT do this? I would quarantine of course but this add was on the California Poultry People FB pg.

"I have 12 hens and roosters, mostly silkies or sizzles with one cochin, looking for new homes. All have been raised in a petting farm and are under 3 years old. Friendly and healthy. The petting farm is no longer going to use chickens for the kids to hold so all need to find new homes in the next month or so. They are located about 45 min north of San Francisco. One of the silkies is egg crazy and she comes with her eggs shes been sitting on or if they've hatched then all her kids! All are free to good homes. No eating them."

I have been putting my broody vibes out into the universe...gave away a couple of EEs to a friend today and this post shows up.

It's a sign I am sure of it. Anyway, this is the broody mama. I would love to take her and her clutch but am not sure it will be the right thing to do. (translation DH may not be so keen on the idea) Anyway any thoughts? I want a silkie for the cuddle factor as well as the broodiness and here some are
