Except for the disease factor its a good idea. Looks like they want you to take 12 howevet... but silkies only cpunt for 1/3 of a marans so its practicaly nothing.

YIPPEEE!!!!! I sent her a PM and left a message on the fb page. I am anxious to hear from her. I was so hoping you two as well as other experienced peeps would chime in here. I think I will quarantine for a while in the house. I need to make improvements on my quarantine pen.

Any advice on convincing Tom that the broody silkie is the way to go??

I have a hatching temp question. I now have 3 thermometers in the incubator. I know for still air you keep the temp at 102, but that's 102 "air temp", right? So If I have a "water wiggler" probe thermometer, do I want the temp to be 99.5, or 102?

On the Easter hatch a long thread, @ozexpat said to get a fan kit--it will make things easier.

Blowing out instead of in was the problem before.

Have you read Sally sunshines and or Chooks chicks guide to still air incubation? I have not hatched in one so I do not know the answer.

I meant to add that I asked if I had to take them all and was assured I didn't. I thought the same thing!

My SPR boys I just processed were 19 weeks and still silent. It all depends on the breed and the individual chicken.

I read Sally's Hatching 101 -(all the time), does she have a different one? I'll look it up. - and go check out the hatch-a-long

I'll be waiting for the answer also. My mid egg temp is 99/100° If I let the probe hang at the top of the eggs 101/102°. No water wiggler up here though. I picked up an instant read thermometer and the shell temp. of the eggs was only 97°,.

Liz I Think the water wiggler should be 99.5 in the middle. But I also have not used still air.

Tommy I saw the fb post! Hopefully you got her. If he freaks out tell him its a trial and if its too much ill take her

It does look like water wiggle probe should say 99.5. The tip of the probe that goes into the water wiggle toy should be at the same height as the middle of the eggs.

Good!! That's what I thought, because you want the inside of the egg to be 99.5, and the water simulates the inside of the egg. Thanks Ron!! -- I just asked over at the Hatch-a-long too.

I just used a plastic zip-lock bag, and made my own wiggler.
