Oh, another question. I've heard chicks can be sexed by looking at the feathers on their wings when they're just a day or two old, is this true?

You can get them from Heaven sent ranch in Red Bluff and www.sweeth2o.us in Roseville. You would have to check to see if they have pullets.

Sometimes they will have them but you may need to get on a list.

Edited to add that I am getting fertile eggs from her for the Easter hatch along. Not that I need fertile eggs but decided to order some FBCM eggs, Cream Legbar eggs (I don't have a roo), and Langshan eggs to add to my breeding program.

Fbcms have funny vent sexing bumps and are very hard to vent sex.

I expect to start having this conversation more I have to put up an ad for the first marans chicks of the year!

Heaven Sent will be at the Red Bluff Show on the 29th and will have chicks for sale there...
