Heheh, I'm pretty sure they're girls. They were just very unhappy about being out in the cold for pictures, so they froze in the position that I set them down in. We looked at the combs on all the chicks and the breeder (Heaven Sent Ranch) showed us how the boys had pronounced combs and the ones that are likely girls are the ones with no combs showing. We took two with no combs.

Some of us prefer the pronunciation "fluffy butt".

Yeah...but I did a google search for "fluffy butt breeders" and you don't want to know what came up.

Oh . I've been pronouncing D'uccle wrong. I say "Cochin" Ko-Chin. Campine- Cam-pine (i think that one's wrong too). Jason's ( @Hangtown Farms ) breeds are the hardest, I have no idea where to start with those ones (Penedesenca, Empordanesa). I think we need a video with someone correctly pronouncing the names of all these breeds....

I am not so sure about the "E" word but I think about dumping pasta into the sink by accident when I pronounce Penedesenca... Pene..duh sink a.

Black Copper Marans #2

#2 is CRANKY!! adorable!

Here is what I gave my broodies plus pictures of the parents and the broody mamas in action

These are the parents of these VVVVV

Petunia is crabby anyway but especially so right now. She doesn't peck me but she growls and puffs like no broodie's business

Norma Ray the drama queen did not protest one bit when I gave her 10 eggs

Here they are plus the one that Blanche was laying while I took the picture.

Is there going to be a Cinco de Mayo HAL?

Everyone has such cute chicks! And the front page keeps telling me it is the last day to set eggs for a hatch-a-long. And one of my girls is broody again... it is very tempting to run out and buy some fertile eggs from Trader Joes and join the fun!

But what am I going to do with the chicks? No space to keep them, plus, I have bantams.

Anyone want to loan me some hatching eggs or chicks? I'll return them when Edith is done with them!
