mix DE in their food every day. just sightly wet it so the powder doesn't get in their lungs. you will never have worms.... or flies in their manuer. My feed comes with DE in it.My 1 year old buff has pasty butt.is there something else I can do besides just washing her? All the other girls don't seem to have any issues.
the look like lavender with buff or white mixed in .. not sure.Any guesses on the adult coloring for the light chicks in this picture? I really have no clue what breeds/colors the parents are. This lady does not document that info. She is thinking Ameraucana hens covered by BCM Roos, but isn't sure. The eggs were from a place she was "Housesitting" so I'm not sure she really has any idea at all.
Does she have an over fluffy butt? I have a few of my big girls that tend to have this problem. The droppings build up because they have so much fluff. I trim their feathers and it goes away. It's on my list to do now that it is spring. I need to make room in my schedule for a spa day for the chickens!
She was very tiny and a goof ball. I miss her! Some birds just make a place in your heart and she was one of those.
I'm sorry you to hear about the babies. This wacky weather really messes with all of us. I've only got one outside brooder going right now. I was checking on them (obsessively) regularly during the storms. The rest of the littles are still in the indoor brooders.
I wouldn't mind doing that again, but I need to wait until we move so I have somewhere secure to store it. That was a real moneysaver, plus we got to do a little socializing
It's also my BR too. I noticed they have loss some weight. They are the oldest so fluffier butt than the others. They have free calcium and grit to eat. Also free range too.
