Does she have an over fluffy butt?  I have a few of my big girls that tend to have this problem.  The droppings build up because they have so much fluff.  I trim their feathers and it goes away.  It's on my list to do now that it is spring.  I need to make room in my schedule for a spa day for the chickens!

It's also my BR too. I noticed they have loss some weight. They are the oldest so fluffier butt than the others. They have free calcium and grit to eat. Also free range too.

What wormer did you use? If you used Wazine you might want to try Safeguard or Valbazen since Wazine only gets roundworms. You could also take a poop sample to a vet and have it checked for worms and bacteria. (fecal float and gram stain).

Is it just me or is this chick feathering out wrong? It looks like the feathers are growing sideways...and it's the same size(so probably age) as a chick that has full wings, but this one only has tinnyy wings. What do you guys make of this?





For size and wing comparison, this picture is next to her sister that has full wings and is starting to get feathers on her shoulders. Her same-size sister also has a tail and this one doesn't. They are both Black Copper Marans.

Looks like a boy and girl to me!

I'll try trimming the fluffy butt first. Wazine is what I used.

I am quail free!!!!  I just sold the last 6 Bobwhite boys.  I am going to miss the cute little things but now I have another 3 x 8 foot pen for chicks!!!

I can chane that with happy birds! I have grow out GIRLS even!

Can u make phoenix hens go broody?

Can't make anyone go broody. You can try leaving a pile of eggs and seeing if anyone takes the bait.

Wow that's it no shipping... I thought I paid less for it. but worth everypenny the still air wafer was smaller, temps shifted and bad hatch rate for me, though some do fine with it.

OK...I just called and ordered the "Kit" from GQF. I called and tried to get them to send Coturnix instead of BobWhites, but it was $12 more, so I will just find someone eho wants the quail eggs when they get here. I could have just ordered the 'bator and turner separate, but them I would not get the quail rails and would still pay more. It should got out Friday or Monday...but I told her I hoped Friday because I had eggs on the way...

That's too funny! I like queen of worms, lol. Wormers like Safeguard (fenbendazole) are very effective and quite safe, safer than Wazine (piperazine), I think. So for me it's simple, rule out worms first. Roundworms are bad news, but so are capillary worms...
