Wouldn't be nearly as effective if her head wasn't backwards. She's still pretty to me.

Thank you, she is one of my favorite girls in spite of being a bit scary.

LOL, I've always been one of those buy high, sell low people. I can't bring myself to ask prices that other people ask. Speaking of which, I just set about ten more tolbunt polish eggs tonight! LOL And I'm getting ready to set up breeding pens for the Jubilee, Chocolate and Crele Orpingtons.....................anyone need cheap chicks? LOL
I see this posted above...I have a broody that I am going to set eggs under on Thursday or Friday. Any chance of purchasing six tolbunt eggs? email me off line if we can make this work. I'm in Healdsburg

Another reason to raise Pita Pintas!!! I have a bunch of 2 week old PPs and eggs in the incubator if anyone is interested!
Karen is.......LOL

I am so sad....had the worst hatch ever. Out of 14 shipped eggs only had 6 make it to lockdown and only one hatched. All the others were dead inside the eggs fully formed including 3 from my own flock. I didn't do anything different than my previous incubation and had great results last time. It really sucked. Ok done complaining now. At least I got 2!

so sorry Liz.................There just doesn't seem to be a guaranteed hatch. What a disappointment

This one possibly cockerel. The rest pullets. My guesses.
Put them in a box or small cage with one side open, in order to photograph them. Or, scatter some grain and hold down the shutter or video them and choose the best frames as still shots.
Thanks. Going to have to work on it. The first one ran right off the roof as my daughter was trying to get another for the photos and landed on her head. Scared the living daylights out of my daughter. (and the chicken probably) I don't think she meant to run off the roof. They are not shy about exploring whenever they get out. I'm afraid they will pick up some things they shouldn't "eat". They did a number on a lizard that was trying to go through the wire. I'm surprised it escaped with its life.

The Spanish breeds from Megan are resistant too. The Basque and Pita Pintas have had no trouble with anything yet.
Spanish breeds in General are hardy. Penedesenca seem to have no issues and are also resistant. except my one Sandhill hen which I am not sure what she died of

Hubby & I were going through photos I took a few months ago of some of my youngsters out freeranging. I couldn't figure out why he was laughing at this particular shot....

Until I enlarged it.........He decided my SPPR pullet was auditioning for a remake of The Exorcist

I was going to add the Penes to the list.

Megans are second generation though so much more recently exposed, like the English Orps.

Real old time Rhode Island Reds are the most resistant to mareks(on Average. I bet Walt's New Hampshires are even more resistant) followed by Leghorns according to a study I read last year or so. I do not remember Which was the worst of the Breeds they tested though.

Skyline Basque and the three Penedesncas ware very healthy.
