But I have too many Roos for my girls and they need to go ASAP! Would like $10 each but if they dont go within the next week I will have to take them down to the local feed store. Anyone local interested? Im in Foresthill, 15mins from Auburn

Well my "broody" is perches on a roost so i put the eggs in a bator hopefully im not to late

I hope so too! If they didn't cool down too much, they should be okay. They might take a little longer to hatch, so give em an extra day or two.

Think of it as an adventure. I'm glad you're not leaving the thread! There's a lot of good and bad in Texas, but overall, it's a decent place. And the cost of living is a lot lower there. And watch out for the mosquitos. They are sometimes mistaken for helicopters.

Hey there....No, I am actually moving because my Ex is moving there and I think it is important for my daughter to have both of her parents close by.

I am starting to get a little worried though. I think Tex-*** (hehe) is prone to have quite a bit of the "Good Ole Boys Club" in business, and since I have lived 90% of my life in CA, I am not certain how that is going to go over. California is a bit more progressive in a lot of ways, and I have a big mouth. So it wouldn't probably be a good combination.

It would be over to the Houston area. I have my priorities however; and am researching the heat hardy breeds so I know what I can have when I get there and get settled.

I worked in Houston for 4 months. Its a huge city. It reminded me a lot of San Jose. I will tell you though the people were very friendly.
One of my co-workers needed a lift home out to the suburbs one day but traffic at rush hour is terrible and their car pool lanes (HOV lanes) need 3 people. He told me just drop by a bus stop and pick someone up. We did. Would have never done that in a million years here. Not saying you couldnt get in trouble doing something like that on occasion but the general feel I got from the place was people were friendly helpful and just all around decent folks. Houston however in summer is apparently humid and hot.

OkOKI had a ????....... Day today.

I'm out looking to/see if floppy is hiding her eggs because I'm low for an order and I have not seen her egg in 3 days. I saw a pile of feathers under the daeck and become alarmed. No body so I figure its just a weird thing and continue to look for eggs. No luck so I go to gather turkey eggs and see a more feathers on the stairs leading down to the gazebo and follow them up to pumpkins nest. She sees me and jumps up.

She has a clump of feathers and then... Her entire Brest is exposed!! I go to grab her and she is running around like a loon. When I finally corner her she has torn an Lshaped hole in her skin exposing her crop her muscle.... Everything. W...t.....h.......

My vet friend called for something else as I came in and rushed over. Pumpkins took an hour of stitching.how can you lay an egg when you need an hour of stitching?

I don't know if fowl run into disasters more then mamels or if the number of chickens makes more disasters per hour owned. But man they keep coming.

I'm sorry.

Do you think she hurt herself? Or did something attack her? I'm glad you got her stitched up

We lived in Houston for 3 years and our firstborn was born there. I adjusted but my CA born & raised DH never did. We lived in the southwest, the northwest, and finally ended up north close to Spring. We preferred the north where there were lots of trees! It is very hot and humid in the summer so I just went from air conditioned place to air conditioned place!

Good luck with your boys!

I think she did it herself. She might of decided to mate on the concrete pillars holding up the deck that are sharp or got stuck on one and then her flying or runn kept tearing the skin.

She took the bait and is sitting on eggs. Sorry people who wanted turkey eggs next week. The hormones are strong in this one.

Sounds exactly like how things go up here. I do quick process pickles for Growers Market but have people ask for fermented all the time. If I tried I would end up throwing out so amny of them because I didn't get the brine changed due to some other emergency here.
Hope she appreciates the care she has gotten and leaves the stitches alone-more personal experience showing through.
