Yes, the standard submission form for Back Yard flocks.

Make sure to ship using the UCD Fedex Account.

Just called the lab and they gave me their account number. I think that's all I need to do, now I just have to pack her up and bring her to the FedEx shipping office. I bought a Styrofoam cooler and will pack her in that, then put that in the box. I did not feel like cutting up my foam core board, so this works just as well.

I just checked my calendar to see when I was supposed to lockdown my eggs..........two days ago!

Then I looked in the cabinet and there were two dry, fluffy Orp chicks staring back at me from the bottom and another with it's head popped out of it's shell.

I just rapidly moved all 32 remaining eggs, along with the three chicks into a hatcher. I'd say nearly a third are pipped already. Including half of my first test hatch of Tomaru Longcrowers.

Dang I hate when this happens

See BCollie...................anyone can miss actually watching the hatch,

Guess I've been busy and distracted selling off adult birds!

That's funny, Deb! Mine are hatching early, good thing I locked them down on time! The bantam hatched the day after lockdown, and the two BCM's hatched 2 days after. I can hear them chirping away in the brooder, they aren't sure what to think of it. My dog is obsessing, of course. I'll have to post a picture of it in just a little bit, it's so funny how she hangs her head in the brooder. All. Day. Long.

I want a more colorful egg basket. I currently have 3 white layers and 2 brown layers. I have a dark chocolate layer(BCM, the one that we aren't sure of the gender yet), a blue layer that aren't laying yet, still babies...and I'm going to keep the Olive Egger that's hatching soon in hopes that it'll be a girl. I think next I want to hatch out some Easter Eggers, and hope for a pink layer. :)

Okay, wow! The Olive Egger pipped this morning, and it just hatched! That was REALLY fast. I have to go buy it a leg band because I can't tell it apart from the BCM's, it's dark colored. Good thing I just put the BCM's in the brooder! It's pretty big, too. I had to take it out of the incubator because it had that clear gunk on it's face, it was covering one of the eyes and I think it would have been very bad if it had dried over the eye. But it's back in there now, happy and healthy looking.
Is it normal for chicks to have that clear gunk on them, or did I do something wrong in incubating that caused that to be on all of the chicks?

Generally if they have an excess of "clear gunk", it means they were a sticky chick. That is probably a temperature or humidity problem. Do a search on sticky chicks.

If it's really bad, I will wash them in warm water and let them re-dry. Usually though, once they're dry it will flake off, sort of like peeling off skin after a sunburn. It doesn't bother the chick and the bit of membrane or shell bits are generally gone within a couple of days. It's generally best to not mess with them too much if you don't have too.

Pasty butt is a different situation, if you see that wash it right away. If that gets away from you it will kill the chick if not treated.
