The eggs shippped from chooks chicks came in very nice shape. They will be set for the 13th for calculating the hatch date.

They are 18 Konza Rangers and 5 Pita Pinta eggs.

Ron you are an angel. I am tickled and so grateful. I am looking forward to brooding these babies as I have missed that with all these broodies doing the mothering. Looking forward to meeting them and you.

I was sadder than I thought I would be over the loss of the single Marans and all 4 Trader Joe's eggs. So, I'm trying again. I bought a dozen Trader Joe's eggs around noon today, then just now went back and bought another dozen. At $2.99 a dozen, why the heck not? I hope I'll get at least a few babies this time, but I'm doing the same thing I did last time, which is not expecting anything. If I had been expecting them to hatch I would have been crushed. It's still sad that they all quit so late, but I'm not giving up! I'm also getting a dozen Easter Egger eggs from PapaBrooder tomorrow morning, I'll be keeping some of those for myself and hoping for a girl, and selling the rest. My bator is gonna be full! I think I am a hatchaholic...and I've only had one hatch.

I expect a good hatch rate from PapaBrooder's eggs, and don't expect anything(but am hoping for something) from the TJ's eggs. Best case scenario, I'll be overrun with chicks!

Good news! I have never heard of Konza Rangers. Had to look them up. They are kinda cool looking . A little like a light Brahma.

What is the date on the TJ's? If you don;t have any success with them again, try the Rock Island ones. Mine were 15 days old when I set them and 5 hatched

I'm setting my TJ eggs tomorrow also; as long as I can get the humidity dialed in. I just picked them up; the date is June 5 so they'll be 8 days old when their set. They're gonna be my test hatch for the Bantam Cochins and Lavender Orps I'm gonna get from PapaBrooder to "hopefully" hatch on my daughters 3rd birthday.

I have a hygrometer in there that records lows & highs. It went up to 107 outside, but the high in the room was 91. The RCom guy said the highest room temp should be 72.

I don't even have AC in my house, only a swamp cooler. No room in the house for the incubator. There's no way I can pay for AC for a room in the barn so I can use an incubator.

Deann did you run the ducky in the barn?

That's a great date! Good luck with them!
I'm super excited! I candled all the eggs and outlined the airsac for future reference. They all look good, no detached or saddle shaped. A few are "jiggly" but barely. And I noticed that they were all packed large end up so I have hope.

I was thinking about not turning them for the first day or so like some people recommend for shipped eggs but with them looking so good and the fact that I'm letting them sit for almost 24hr anyway; should I just plug the turner in when I set them?
