California - Northern

They are Chooks Chick's project. She has been working on them for quite a while. The goal is to get a dual purpose homestead bird that will mature more quickly for the table and laying, who is broody but not too broody, who doesn't hang around the feed all day but will rustle up grub, be hearty in cold and heat and have a friendly docile personality. She has used Partridge Chantecler, Heritage Delaware, Austrailian Coronation/Light Sussex and some Cornish Rock in the mix and introduced some English...Orpington for size. Here are some other pics but you can read the whole thread here https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/695265/konza-prairie-rangers. They really have me excited! I like unique I like variety.

hahaha

I am having a cup of tea in my room and have left the back door open. I believe I have a chicken on the stairs.

yep

and now she is in the laundry room

.
My son's best friend is on the other side of that door and he is a little leary of the birds. Maybe I should go get her before she freaks him out.
That is a great story!

Of course a Dorking would own the laundry room.....

Is anyone arround these parts breeding/ selling D'uccles? I have Millie & porcelain, so looking for pretty much any other colors. Chicks or Audults (depending on price) Thanks

I don't have a problem, I don't have a problem, I don't have a problem....my bator is FULL. I actually had 3 extra eggs that wouldn't fit in the bator. I grabbed three white ones to give to my family to eat - I almost gave them 3 Tolbunt Polish eggs(that have already been incubating for a few days) instead of 3 Trader Joe's eggs! I only realized I took out the wrong ones when I started wondering why the eggs were warm. @PapaBrooder gave me 6 extra EE eggs! :) I realized 15 minutes after setting them that I had set them upside down, skinny side up, because that's the way they had been set/labeled in the carton lol! Glad I caught my mistake.

rotate out the egg near the turner motor every day or so. That egg can get hotter than the others.

I hope you have a great hatch!

Agreed, plus I would have it be one of the Trader Joe eggs. And as soon as you find a non-developer, then just leave that spot empty. I also try to leave the spot directly under the vent hole empty. That way I can add water without lifting the lid.

Good luck.

And NO, you don't have a problem...................
