California - Northern

I was working down at CalExpo today to run the poultry meat classes and egg classes.

WOW, the burned out areas from the fire were HUGE. The entire Z Lot (livestock parking) was a sea of black soot. At some point the fire had jumped the service road and part of the area closer to the Grandstand was burned as well.

There won't be any hiking through the weeds this year!

Good luck to the 4H and FFA kids trying to keep their white pants clean when walking to/from their cars.
Deb, When is the best dates & times to go to see chickens at the fair? I hate to admit that I've only been to the CA state fair 1 time and we were too late to see the 4H poultry. Groupon has a deal for tickets and I'm thinking about going again this year.

Congrats! She is beautiful!

Can you get her some fertile eggs to hatch?

do it do it do it do it!
Possibly, I've been considering it.

Win win...you will both be happier...I believe there is solid science behind the theory that new life is a mood booster and new life that can put food on the table well...what could be better? Where do you live again? I am sure some one can hook you up.

Graft went well...Tom has dubbed the operation "The Golf Ball Miracle" Out of one golf ball she has seemed to hatch 4 chicks. Everyone is happy!

That is great news!

A good Mom is so cute with the chicks.

Who is that was hatching all boys? Somehow they have infected me who hasn't hatched a thing.

Of the 7 chicks I picked up from Karen's it looks like I may have 6 boys and 1 girl (of course I knew about 2 of the CLB boys)
Looking more and more like my Pita Pintas are boys. the jury is out on the Delaware (but it usually is with them)

But I was hoping for 4 more hens for my backyard laying flock with at least 2 blue eggers.

If only I could keep the boys. Reggie (the small CLB) is so sweet and friendly.

Anyone interested in a pen (three pullets, one cockerel) of blue Ameraucana bantams? They are only 3 months old, so they aren't laying yet. I need to get recent pictures.

I hope you find a good home for them!

The Pita Pintas will make a nice dinner! Mine did not crow too early so they should get nice and big before you need to re home them.
