I missed mine too. I was only gone overnight but worried too. It was too hot to confine them to the secure pen while we were gone, but I didn't have anyone to come and lock them in Friday night and then let them out again Saturday morning. I had to take a gamble and leave the loose in the bigger pen. They were all fine when I got home, but I worried the whole time that something would get them.On vacation and find myself missing the birds. Now that is just silly![]()
Quote: So glad to hear that. The news said near Grass Valley.
Quote: I sure hope it is moving away and they get it controlled soon. I have been thinking about that a lot in the last week with all the fires going. I have 2 large dogs, currently about 25 chcikens of various ages in the big pen and 4 youngsters in the brooder. Plus about 100+ finches in outside flights...many raising chicks in nests. It would be very difficult for DH and I to to gather them up if we had to evacuate again like we did in 2008. We didn't have chickens then and only 1 dog.
Haha..Brody does look like he is either snarling or smiling! Hope it is smiling.....Two foster dogs now, the one in front is Jax and he's only staying until Tuesday. Brody's face in this just kills me. Jax wants to eat the chickens, at least that's how he acts when he sees them through the fence. Brody was let off leash around the chickens today and he did great, even with the babies!

He was smiling. He bares his teeth when he plays with Jax, a lot of dogs do that when they play. There's not an aggressive bone in his body. He's done great with even the young chickens(1/4 the size of an adult), which I've never had a foster dog do before...and I've fostered a LOT of dogs. If anyone's looking for a dog, this is your guy.![]()
Try a Corid drench.Still having the chick with poop on it's butt. Giving the 10 grain cereal. It's not too cold, under the Brinsea with the others.
It's over a week old. Any hope for this chick? I stopped all vitamins last week.
Gave probiotics couple days and then plain water. Gave a tiny bit of BOB for probiotics today. Running out of ideas
Are you sprinkling the chick grit on their food? That also helps. Not that the chicks is too warm, but being too warm, not cold can cause pasty butt.Still having the chick with poop on it's butt. Giving the 10 grain cereal. It's not too cold, under the Brinsea with the others.
