Nice looking birds!

I have heard that can be tough. My only concern with having the boys is crowing and that will definitely tell my they are boys. Silkies seem to be in demand around here...even boys so I shouldn't have too much trouble. In fact, one person I made friends with on FB has already asked about taking "Cher" if she turns out to be a he. I did tell her about the eggs I have coming so hopefully she will be hapy with one of the ones that hatches out from those.

One of the poys I processed today had a very prominant keel...much more so than any I have processed before. He was from the mixed breed meat bird eggs I hatched back suring the Easter HAL. He finished out about 3 lbs with very long legs. I suspect the keel would have been a DQ if he were pure bred and being shown. It didn;t seem to cause him any problems though

It would be a great name, but I just can't picture myself saying that out loud...even in my own backyard!

I think that is the name that will stick. It's simple and short....and definitley suits her!

Good to have you back! I can't imagine living without internet...even though I somehow manage to do just that for 30+ years...

I am excited for you!
Good to have you back too, Kathy!

Thank you so much! I had to rehome 8 of my birds. When I gave away my pet quality Jersey Giants and Australorps I cried for two days. The lady wanted the youngest. I'm ok now though and will get more birds next year. I loved those silky black feathered coats. I went through broodiness for the 4 and they came out fine. Wish I'd have kept 2. One thing about BYC, I will be able to find more! Thanks to all of you.

Hi and Welcome!

This is the busiest thread for our area so you are at the right place.

What are you looking for?

I am glad to hear that. :) I really like the idea of having Easter Eggers for the sheer fun factor of multi colored eggs but I am open to suggestions.

It is risky getting eggs from ebay.

Check out the sellers and make sure they are selling the real thing. A lot of Hatchery stock is passed of on ebay.

Fyi if cher is a he I ninja him!! As long as we have some 3d toe feathering.

The other chick can have peaches lol.
Speaking of "ninja-ing"...
Mustard has turn out to be a boy. I've renamed him "Magic Mike" since he is a sparsely-feathered naked neck silkie (aka a "stripper").
Tee-hee.

I need to get some more recent pics - his wattles are now more pronounced & curve towards each other to touch under his chin.
@chiqita would you like him back? He is all shades of silver & gray.

@ronott1 Yes, Magic Mike is delightful but my heart belongs to Fezzik

He hates his new rooster collar - but IT WORKS.
