Wishing you all a Happy and prosperous Year!

With lots of chickens.

Same to you, ronott. Too cold here this morning for this California guy. It would be good if I weren't fighting this nasty cold. There's a bad one going around so clean your groceries and avoid sick people if possible.

Thanks!

It was cold this morning. One tip I read was to take your own pen with you so that you do not need to use the store pen when signing stuff.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Just wanted to share that the little one...we are calling it Able...who had the unabsorbed yolk sac is doing really well. The sac is shrinking and drying up the baby is eating and drinking and snuggling up to its surrogate bunny friend...going to get it a feather duster today. There is nothing on earth wrong with it other than what my D refers to as its "butt nugget" Oh it is adorable. Black on Yellow with feathered legs

for a pullet.

My NYD hatch is nearly completed. I purchased 7 mixed eggs from a seller in So California. She shipped 8 in an egg carton packed in a flimsy cereal box. None were broken but one hat a totally detached air cell so I gave 7 to my silkie girl. Two of the eggs were clear on day 14 so I pulled them and as of about 2 hours ago 4 of the remaining 5 eggs had hatched and the last one was zipping. I was doubtful that I would get anything from those but they surprised me

If I am unable to successfully graft Abel back I may pull one of the chicks from the NYD hatch to be a buddy for her/him.

I think it is interesting that the eggs from @PetRock and my own back yard are significantly larger than the cereal box eggs and hatch big ol robust babies. Must be the cleaner air and a higher protein diet.

we clean are veggies with a light vinegar solution. it also helps them keep longer

That's a good idea. I am always careful to clean produce. What annoys me are those cashiers touching the mouth end of bottles or milk cartons as they ring me up, or sick shelf stockers working in stores. All I know is this strain of cold is a nasty one and hope none of you get it. This is coming from one who has gone years without having a cold or flu.
