My NyD Hatch!

6 BBS Australorps(Blue)

And 15 Trader Joes chicks!

cute. I need to fire up my R-com and hatch Brown Red Replacements. plus my Black Penedesenca are laying well if you want eggs Ron. The partridge run is too but i have crele and black roosters and crele hens in there until I can move some girls around
That was my worry about Option 1. Would nesting curtains help? I could also just do two boxes toward the back and make a storage cubby of the section closest to the door.
i like the curtin idea though it will get dusty

@ronott1 would you be able to post the video on shipping? I think Shantih said it was called Meeks.
And anyone who has pics on how they pack would be great too
Thanks

The Black Pene eggs are very tempting. I need to get these squared away first though.

The Black Penes have a lot of potential.

you are welcome! Here are a couple of broody pics of the clutches that hatched 12/16 and 1/1: I had a local man tell me that he always took the chicks away from the hens and brooded them indoors during the winter, that they would die otherwise but as you can see in spite of freezing temps all is well with these two little families . She has 5 of them under there and things are getting crowded :D Make Room! See the little orange legs? There are black legs under there too. This is the mama who adopted the baby with the unabsorbed yolk sac. So happy he has a chicken family! This is a silkie I rescued from a petting farm last March. She was sitting on about 2 doz eggs there and had hatched a clutch prior. Since she has come to live with me she has hatched 3 more. Super Broody!
aww, I can't resist a broody! My girl hatched some nov 2013. When it got SUPER cold for a while. They would run around, eat and drink, then go back under her. Didn't lose one but I'd swear they feathered out faster

thanks all so much for the pics :) Jason, so you sometimes just single box it too? I got eggs from @ronott1 that were double boxed. Best hatch EVER on shipped eggs! So I was always Leary about single boxing But double boxing is I'm sure quite more of an expense in shipping.

Regional rates are low so shipping to your place was like $8.00 dollars.

Went to see @TheKeeper today. Brought her a blue and a splash Orp for her "collection". All I can say is wow! She has an amazing assortment of birds. Blew me away. I brought home a pretty little black Orp who is hanging in the giant brooder with Venetia for the afternoon. TheKeeper is very nicely keeping one of her spangled Orp chicks for me until she's big enough to slip into my coop (which she so isn't right now!). Even the new black, who's a month older than mine, is so much smaller than my splashes that I'm kinda shocked. I hadn't realized how big they really are.

Yes I use lots of bubble wrap I like single boxing unless I'm not shipping a lot of eggs

If i single box i use styrafoam to build a second internal box inside the po box. The po boxes are single walled so iffy if they get wet or smashed.

Aww, thanks.
The orps are so pretty! I love the contrast of the willow legs on the splash with her coloring - so glad I chose her.
It'll be interesting to see if the blacks have a growth spurt but I think that there are some color that just tend to grow bigger, depending on the breeder stock as well.
The ginormous cuckoo orp was not all that huge until late fall last year.

Glad you like them! The little splash has the sweetest personality.

I'm in awe of that big cuckoo orp. She's practically a turkey!
