Amazing color & body shape on those RIRs.
And your PartiPenes are so much bigger/rounder than my pullet. What was their hatch date? Mine was July 2014.

I will check--They were the hatch that I gave to my broody barnveldner.

I am very pleased with them.

I found it!

They hatched the first of June.

They are in here somewhere....

Sorry folks I do not understand your cryptic little comment,"From the blacks". What from what blacks? Might it be feasible to get some more context? Is this what happens when a nation gives up its language to be replaced by a monster called texting? No disrespect meant just asking for clarity.
Stay well all,
Neal, the Zooman

Hi Neal,

I went back three pages and the only black I saw was a picture of a very pretty black chicken.

Can you go to the post you have a question about and click on the quote button?

From the blacks
Zooman- ronott posted about his Partridge Penedesenca eggs, then these were posted 'from the blacks'. It seems she was telling Ron these were the eggs she got from her Black Penedesencas. It seems to me reasonable to infer that from the photo of eggs above the 'from the blacks' comment, along with her quoting Ron's Penedesenca post. No cause to despair that Hangtown Farms has given up the language.

If you hit the quote button at the bottom right of the posts you are replying to, it would be much easier to carry on a dialogue with you. When you don't, it leads to guesswork.

Ron, your Australorps, RIR and Pita Pintas look fantastic!

I took pictures today!

Blue, Black Splash australorps. they are two weeks old!

Looking Good!

I think I got my first PP egg from Daphne today...are they pinkish? If it wasn't her it was someone else who laid her first and snuck it into a nesting box in the coop Daphne lives in

I raised a turkey once.  My grandmother feed it every table scrap from our house besides regular feed.  We probably kept it too long, as when we butchered it, it wouldn't fit in the oven without really squeezing it in.  Best most tender and moist turkey ever.  It feel apart trying to get it out of the oven.  Kern

We saw a clutch of 25 wild adult hen turkeys last week here in Pioneer, CA and it was the prettiest show I've seen in my yard!

Well, it looks as if my hen is ready to permanently rejoin her flock tomorrow! She has been eyeing the outside of her box for the last day or two, and keeps up very well with her flock when she goes outside. I'm so incredibly happy that she recovered so quickly!

Lately though, I've been wondering about something. It probably sounds absurd, as she may have just injured something, but I would really like to know, or at least hear your thoughts on it. Judging by the fact that the killed hen did not have a head, and was completely untouched elsewhere, I thought raccoon. But is there some type of animal that injures their prey so that they can come back the next day, or a few days after and get an easy meal?

Probably not, just thought I'd ask.

I don't know, but I used to have cats that would catch birds. They would do just that, eat the bird's head and leave the rest of the body.
