I completely agree with you as to not mixing aggressive breeds with the gentle ones. My birds' yard is about 1/2 acre with trees and many bushes. My New Hampshire, and Orpington chickens are definitely one of the largest, and heaviest "Heritage" birds where my cock birds vary between 9-13+ pounds, and the hens are not too far behind, are very gentle birds. I think the size of the birds' yard plays a big role in keeping harmony, or aggression amongst the birds. Even the smallest and gentlest breeds will tend to harass each other if kept in very close proximity. But, on the other hand, when it comes to the Gamebirds, entirely different rules apply. I would not mix them with any other breed regardless of their size. I have Ko Shamo ( about 1- 1 1/2 pounds) , which are true bantams, and I would never fathom keeping them together with any of my NHs., or Orps., where the big birds' life definitely would be in danger. My birds adds joy to my life, and would never allow any one of them to have stressful life.

That is a cool looking egg!! What kind of turkeys do you have? We have a lot of wild turkeys on our property and there was a lot of gobbling going on today!

2 silly Standard bronze hens, Biscuits & Gravy. One tried to walk on our pool cover earlier this week & she sank up to her shoulders. I had to fish her out. Goofy bird.

The golden color is from the flash, i'm afraid.
Its more of a cream with brown spots.

Still very nice and exciting to have turkey eggs!

Today was our 4-H small animal field day. DD and I bathed an OEGB. The kids got a kick seeing her bobbing in the tub.

A little while later she started asking me for another showbird. She didn't think much of my suggestion of a royal palm turkey. She's leaving for college next year and I'll be taking care of it. I might be talked into it but only if it's something I want also.
