California - Northern

I have 13 hatched as of 9pm last night. They are so lively right out of the shell.

I put in a golf ball for size comparison.

Nice dark hen showgirl with silver leakage. Super big pouf.

Other than looking so dang cute what are Showgirls bred for - is it for the fancy of it? I know the original larger Turkens ppl like to use to make processing easier but I could never figure why the Showgirls were started? Probably cooler for them in the summer? Our SoCal weather is way too hot for most of the year!

no i live in Modesto and never heard of them...I need to look into it
The mill is located in Empire. http://www.modestomilling.com/

I have used it in the past when I had a small flock. It is organic and I wish that it was within my price range. I do have a friend who feeds it to her flock of Jersey Giants and she is very pleased with it.

For people who are not local do you pick it up or do they deliver to you?

Two drops ago I bought kamut scratch for about $30.00. I looked at the price for this drop and it was $41.00. Their organic chicken wheat was in the $30.00 range too. The wheat was in the $14.00 range two years ago.

The prices are way too high. The Bar Ale GMO free layer, 40 pound bag was $19.99 from Hayes feed. I can get layeena from Tractor Supply for less. I so like to give them better feed though.

Ron, is Nutena not a very good feed?
