They also have scratch and some other stuff, at least the one in Yuba City, at $9.99 and around that.

Quote: Jason hasn't been the 530 Facey booky thing lately either. I had messaged him about getting Penedesenca eggs a while back . He got as far as asking me what colors I was looking for, then didn't reply back after I told him. I hope he is OK

Head's up, fellow chicken keepers.
Looks like it's going to heat up the coming week, Wednesday being the warmest (Fairfield to be 105!). Get those misters prepped & start freezing water bottles.

I got mine installed this morning, but when I tested it, the pressure relief valve at the end just shoots out a straight stream so I can't use it until I get a replacement.

Future chicken farmers, current chicken lovers.
Kids sure seem to love chickens!!

Wait, there is a 530 Face Booky thing? Darn it. I need to find this. lol
Yep...just do a search for 530 poultry. It is a closed group that requires approval, but that usually happens pretty quick.

Jason and I were in email contact last week. He is working on pens, I think for Goats and had to replace a roof.

I think he is ok and the fire missed him. Happy Chooks is up there too.

I'm in Sonoma County, near Petaluma (the former "Egg Basket of the World" but now home to a dwindling number of abandoned henhouses) in a very rural area surrounded by vineyards.

There's a small organic chicken farm down the road, and my great-grandparents used to have all their own livestock. Unfortunately the chickenhouses fell into disrepair and had to be torn down, but now I'm starting up the chickens again with a new coop!

I got my six chicks (2 RIR, 2 NHR, 2 Cuckoo Maran) from Western Farm Supply in Santa Rosa on the 10th, and I think they said they had got the chicks from Belt Hatchery, but I'm not sure. I also got some organic chick starter there, which they seem to like. The staff were very helpful and polite as well.

Anyone have any feed store recommendations for Sonoma County or the greater Bay Area? Or any sources for chicks and hens?

Western Farms is the Best Feed Store in Sonoma County. The prices are pretty reasonable, the service is outstanding and very knowledgeable. I wish we had a feed store in Eureka like Western Farms, I really do. I lived in Santa Rosa for 40 years and sure do miss my hometown. We have been in EurekAlert about five years now. One thing I don't miss is all the traffic and people. Back to Western Farms I have acquired many pets during my years there from horses, rabbit, geese, ducks, chickens, dog everything, bird's everything, houses oh I could go on. Never had a problem and if I did it was corrected quickly...Your in Good Hands and the Best...
