Hi folks,

We're in Oakand and lost our head girl to ascites about a month ago.

She was a boss, a benevolent RIR.

We're looking to expand the coop by a few EEs, laced Wyandottes and RIRs. I'd love it if I could find someone with fertile eggs, chicks, or pullets!! Or I'd do brick-and-mortar, but I can't find a place that carries any of these near me (except the RIRs). Anyone know of a place?

My last-ditch is ordering eggs through some online place, so I'll take recommendations if you've got em!

Thank you!!

I hope you find some locally!

If not, check out the Easter hatcha a long thread. There is a link in my signature. The first post has sources for hatching eggs. If you can find someone that knows how to pack the eggs(there is information on how to pack egg there too), then eggs will do well shipped to you.

If you feel comfortable doing it, you can give the seller instructions for packing the eggs. They just might learn something too! Sadly, a lot of sellers do not pack eggs well and then blame the post office for the mess. The post office does sometimes damage them but most often the eggs were not packed well.

@joydix

This post might not stay up--sales posts are supposed to go into the Buy Sell Trade section of BYC. Post this there and add a link to it in the signature file. It is also ok to post to a thread and let people know of the sale with a link to it.

I hope your hatch goes well!

Not sure if this helps since it's about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive, but I work at a place called the Poultry Palace in Placerville, up the hill from Sacramento. We've got a batch of 8 week old pullets including RIRs and I'm pretty sure Wyandottes as well (gotta double check on those) coming in next week. We'll also have EEs in the April batch (and EE and Wyandotte chicks in stock now).

Ok now that I have fertile eggs I need to buy some broodybators. Anyone have any chickens that like to go broody? I looked my chickens and according to the chart all are extremely unlikely to go broody. Should I just wait and see? If any one has a broody for sale , I might be interested. My other thought is to just buy an incubator. I would just like to hatch a few eggs and understand the process. I have quite a barnyard mix so I think the chicks are going to very weird looking but so far it's been fun. Any suggestions?

thanks...i did not realize...i was replying to a request so didn't think of it as i "sales" post..which of course in essence it WAS! thanks again! j
If we fly under the radar the post might stay. I have seen them be removed though so it is best to use the BST section.

It is great to have you on this thread!
