California - Northern

I have been coordinating with folks to help move livestock, and I have an ill family member needing medical equipment that is on generator... *sigh*

I'm praying to Mother Earth herself to spare us...
I'm glad you've started working on things. I'm sending as much positive thought and energy your way as I can. :fl

Thank you!

Per the sheriff, we should be okay... They are hoping to get a handle on the spot fire tonight while the winds are down. But if not, I have everything in place to move everyone first thing in the AM!

I hope your place stays out of harms way, too!

I really feel for you folks in Lake and Sonoma counties, and the Paradise/Redding areas, with the multiple hits you've gotten in the last few years. So happy to see the relatively few # of homes lost this time around, and crossing fingers for SoCal. How do you all handle flocks in an evac? There was somebody on BYC during Tubbs trying to find a temporary spot for her hens...

I was resigned to losing my adult covey (I raise quail), but I have a batch of chicks that I was ready to pop into a cage to take with me. I did make sure that they had two full waterers and I was going to leave them a lot of food, though. Luckily, it never came to that.

This fire was definitely not the worst, since it started in an unoccupied area. And our firefighters are PROS at attacking fires quickly now!

I have a LOT of dog crates for evacuating everyone.

An article said that fire fighters setup in a spot between the city and the fire before the wind could blow the fire that way.

Hopefully that kind of prediction and follow through will be the norm now

We had warning for the winds - the fire started prior. So the crews were able to set up breaks and lines. The fire still was crazy with jumps and spotting out miles ahead of the main blaze (which is why my county was on evac warning - it spotted over the hill back towards us). It started at my father's work, the geothermal plant.

That must have been quite an intense time for Him!
