Lauriks, You may be starting something if your Mom gets hooked like I did. I wanted to try call ducks eggs but heard they are really hard to hatch & I was already having trouble with so many shipped eggs. I hope your Mom has a really good hatch.

Ron, good for you.................. Out of shipped eggs I only have one pair of Silver Dorking from last season's hatch. I saw none for sale at Stockton or Fresno show. I will be sending good hatching vibes to you & Kim on all those Dorking eggs.

This year I am all about staying away from shipped eggs if I can. I have enough nice birds of my own to hatch from & between friends hope to trade.
With the Dorking eggs, did they not develop or did they develop and quit? and if they quit, at what stage did they quit? I candled 4 of the eggs yesterday at day two and they look like they are developing. I will candle all of them in a couple of days. Today I will be working with Chicks! I hope they are all ok(splitting an order of SG Dorkings and Partridge Rocks with Kim from Guinda-Will head over to get them at noon).

There are lots of places around here with hatching eggs. I am also on an email thing and there is a breeder from roseville there that has Orpingtons from two named breeders. There are white and Birchen Marans, Swedish flower hens, Orpingtons and something else in Davis. In Vacaville there are Mille Fleur Leghorns(From Cheryl?), Araucanas and Wyandottes? Of course Kim in Guinda may have a lot of Dorking eggs soon

Send a PM if you want information on the email list.

Thanks Ron for including me in the listing...I'm actually in Lafayette, near walnut creek and sew and grow knows me well, we are buds!

In addition to the auctions I have for the mille fleur leghorns I'm offering coronation sussex and silver penciled plymouth rock eggs.

Hi, this is my first time to post to the No. CA thread, although I have had my eye on it for awhile. I live in the Placerville area. I just got back into chickens about a year ago, an egg flock and show birds. I had my first chickens in the late 70's (yes, I'm old) and my son showed poultry in 4-H in the 90's.

Nice to meet you all.

I have a question. Are there any open shows coming up? I've looked around the net a bit and couldn't find any. I know I missed Stockton (actually used to show there when it was still in Roseville and still on Superbowl weekend, I remember the TV set up in the corner of the showroom). I had a non-refundable trip planned that weekend to Oregon that had been reserved over a year ago. If you followed the Valentine's hatch thread, I was the one that took my eggs with me on vacation.

Anyway, nice to "meet" some locals.

On the Dorking thread, many people incubating eggs have some quit midway through. They also have chicks & birds die which has not happened to me. The eggs that I have had incubated had some that never developed. Last year's eggs here were done by broodies. Out of those, I had only 0-4 hatch out of every clutch.
Sounds like better luck this year.

My luck is horrible with Dorkings so I tend to be a pessimist.

Your Welcome Cheryl!

There are so many with hatching eggs around here. I really need to be careful or I could be hatching all the time.
