I have them in the master bedroom closet(aka the hatching room), the garage along the side of the house and at the back under the kitchen window. I have 48 chickens here. Don't tell anyone...

I'm looking for a couple of white leghorn pullet/hens to use in a breeding project. They don't have to be perfect, but prefer they don't have obvious DQ's. A red pyle leghorn would be perfect if anyone has them. I'd prefer something I could drive to within a few hours. I'm in the Sacramento area.

Thanks,
Deb

Zooweemama, if you're talking about the Delux Chick Corral, I don't think it's large enough to put around ANY small kiddie pool! They have them here (Monroe, WA) in the Farm Supply stores and they are only about 3 feet in diameter if I remember right! I've seen lots of kiddie pools but nothing that small!.. :-( ~David

I color sexed them according to their variety so I'm pretty sure I got a trio

Hi Deb,
Are you familiar with the WL breed? I did a little "White Leghorn Project" too recently. My broody Buff Orpington hatched out 2 Trader Joe eggs! I named them TJ and Tia Juanita. Of course, now they are 6 weeks old and Buffy wants nothing to do with them...chases them off and won't let them near the feed dish, etc. I feel sorry for the little white leghorns. The strange thing is, she still accepts the Welsummer "adoptee" that we snuck under her after she hatched her WL eggs?

I'm wondering if Buffy knows the WL are roosters and knows the Wellie is a pullet. Do hens make a distinction of gender of their chicks or could it just be more of a personality thing?

I want some WL hens for their white eggs. Do you think there's a chance one of these could be a pullet? Tia got her feathers long before TJ and has a smaller comb/wattles. However, they're both pretty red in the face????

What do you think, is it "possible" that Tia could be a pullet? When we move, I plan to incubate another dozen fertile TraderJoe eggs for more WL!
